The Black Forest Slash Pile offers a low-cost way to dispose of your yard debris.
September is the month when many people will do their fall cutback but are unsure where to take it.
They also grind up all your yard debris and have large piles of mulch ready to take.
The last day to take slash to the slash pile is September 12. The last day to mulch is September 19. Again, this is a low-cost alternative to taking care of your outdoor chores.

FALL DOESN’T CARE HOW DULL YOUR TOOLS ARE.
The trees need trimming. The shrubs need cutting back. The garden needs cleaning up.
And somewhere in your garage is a pair of pruners that hasn’t seen a sharp edge since… well, nobody remembers.
Here’s the problem: fall cleanup isn’t just about making the yard look better.
What you cut now affects what comes back in the spring.

September is here. The calendar changed. Your dull blades didn’t.
September means we’re entering the final stretch of farmers market season, and a couple of my weekly sharpening opportunities have already disappeared.
The Briargate and Banning Lewis Ranch markets are finished for the season. If you’ve been telling yourself, “I’ll catch Erik next week,” your list of next weeks is getting shorter.
I started Tuesday with a residential house call followed by on-site commercial sharpening.
Wednesday starts early at the Eastern Plains Chamber of Commerce monthly meeting before I take care of a residential drop-by sharpening customer.
Thursday I have open drop-by sharpen-while-you-wait and mobile sharpening appointments available.
Then the market run begins.
Friday I’ll be sharpening at the Woodland Park Farmers Market from 8–1. Only FOUR Woodland Park markets remain this season. If there’s a knife block, pair of scissors, or garden tool you’ve been meaning to bring me, quit letting it ride around dull.
Saturday it’s the Backyard Market in Black Forest from 9–1, and this is a good week to show up hungry. The last of the Palisade peaches are expected, chili roasting is underway, Black Forest Black Garlic will be there, BBQ essentials are waiting—and I’ll be sharpening your dull blades while you shop.
Sunday I finish the week at the Parker Farmers Market from 8–1.
Here’s the part I don’t want you to miss:
Farmers market season feels like it has plenty of time left—until suddenly it doesn’t.
Bring the knives that smash tomatoes. Bring the scissors that fold instead of cut. Bring the garden tools that make a 20-minute job feel like an afternoon project.
Drop them off. Shop the market. Come back sharp.
And before you start your fall cutback, get those outdoor blades sharpened; your trees, plants, and shrubs will look a whole lot better come spring.

It’s a beautiful, cool, crisp morning here at the Woodland Park Farmers Market.

I’ll be sharpening on-site from 8 to 1.

Bring your dull knives, scissors, serrated and garden tools to the market, and I’ll sharpen while you shop.

And as the weather is turning cooler, it’s not too early to think about that fall cutback. Your trees, shrubs, and plants are stressed from the drought and the hot summer—time to help them out.

Your outdoor work will go much more quickly with professionally sharpened tools.

I'll be there sharpening on-site while you shop the market. Fall is coming, which means fall cutback. Your trees, shrubs, and plants are stressed due to the drought. The Sharpening Week National Knife Day.
I will NOT be at the Briargate Farmers Market for the rest of the season. �I have drop-by sharpen-while-you-wait and mobile sharpening appointments available on Wednesday and Thursday.
Wednesday is National Dog Day; leave a pic of your pup in the comments and maybe get a prize.
Friday, I head up to the Woodland Park Farmers Market from 8–1, sharpening in the city above the clouds. ONLY 5 markets left in the 2026 season
