Nourishing food that supports real life. Sungold Kitchen exists to nourish real life — thoughtfully, intentionally, and without shortcuts. Founded by Personal Chef Victoria Cortes, Sungold Kitchen is the evolution of more than 15 years of cooking for Washington, DC–area professionals, families, and individuals seeking food that truly supports their health and well-being. Since 2010, Victoria has b
een stocking refrigerators with her specialty: REAL food — meals made from whole ingredients, prepared with care, and designed to sustain busy lives, health journeys, and everyday routines. From Personal Chef to Purpose-Driven Kitchen
While Sungold Kitchen grew from a traditional personal chef model, the work itself has evolved. Rather than cooking in clients’ homes, Sungold Kitchen now prepares chef-crafted, anti-inflammatory meals in a commercial kitchen and delivers them ready to enjoy. This approach allows for greater consistency, efficiency, and care — while maintaining the same deeply personal attention to ingredients, dietary needs, and flavor. The focus is no longer just on cooking meals, but on providing nourishment, support, and peace of mind through food. A Philosophy Rooted in Real Food
Victoria understands the importance of sustainable agriculture, seasonal eating, and sourcing ingredients with intention. Menus are thoughtfully planned around what’s fresh, nourishing, and aligned with the body’s needs throughout the year. Every client’s menu is customized to reflect personal preferences and health goals, with experience accommodating a wide range of dietary approaches, including:
Gluten-free
Paleo
The 21-Day Sugar Detox
Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD)
Nourishing Traditions
Victoria firmly believes in the healing power of food, and her nutrient-dense, anti-inflammatory meals have supported clients through cancer treatment, inflammatory bowel disease, Lyme disease, and other health challenges. Stocks are made from scratch. Beans are soaked and simmered. Recipes are adapted to incorporate more wholesome, supportive ingredients — because how food is prepared matters just as much as what’s on the plate. The Meaning Behind Sungold Kitchen
The name Sungold Kitchen is inspired by a formative moment early in Victoria’s culinary journey, working at a farmer’s market in Washington, DC. It was there that she discovered the Sungold tomato — vibrant, joyful, and unlike any tomato she had tasted before. That experience reshaped her understanding of flavor, freshness, and what food could be when grown and prepared with care. Sungold Kitchen carries that same spirit: bright, nourishing, seasonal, and deeply rooted in respect for ingredients. Beyond Weekly Meals
In addition to weekly meal services, Sungold Kitchen also offers small yet beautifully executed catered events. From open houses and bridal showers to intimate dinner parties and milestone celebrations, each event is approached with the same attention to detail, flavor, and ease — ensuring hosts can be fully present with their guests. About the Chef
Victoria Cortes holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies and French from Allegheny College. Before pursuing culinary school, she worked in documentary film at the National Geographic Channel in Washington, DC. Inspired by a year spent in gourmet France, Victoria went on to earn her culinary degree with honors from the Professional Culinary Arts Program at L’Academie de Cuisine in Gaithersburg, Maryland. Since then, she has honed her skills across fine dining, catering, prepared foods, and even television — including work on Emeril Green with Chef Emeril Lagasse. Victoria is also passionate about food education. She has taught cooking classes throughout the region, including at LivingSocial’s 918 F Street, The Butterfly Gourmet, Integrative Family Medicine Center, and Brainzoom Learning Center, where she introduced children ages 4–10 to the foundations of real food cooking. She is a Certified Food Safety Manager with the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals, and Sungold Kitchen is fully licensed, bonded, and insured. Our Commitment
