Yikes! "Holowatyj points to data that suggests people born in 1990 are twice as likely as those born in 1950 to develop colon cancer—and four times as likely to be diagnosed with re**al cancer." Is this diet? Environmental exposures? Lack of movement? Obesity? The truth is they don't know why but they do know it is happening! The full article in in the first comment. The issue isn't just the jump in rates but also in earlier onset. Colon cancer is now being seen in 30-50 year olds. We used to start screening for it at 50 because it was an "older person's illness". Not true anymore. New screening guidance puts "first" screening test at 45 years of age for those at average risk but with this new study, that might need to be lowered to 35 or 40.
