25 Years Later — We Will Never Forget
Twenty-five years ago, in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center, these members of the Farmingville Fire Department answered the call and headed into New York City during one of our nation’s darkest days.
This powerful image, known as “The Walk of Courage,” captures a moment of bravery, selflessness, and dedication that will forever be a part of our department’s history.
Today, 25 years later, we are incredibly grateful and fortunate that every member pictured here is still with us today. Their courage reminds us of the commitment first responders made that day and in the difficult days that followed.
We honor the 343 FDNY firefighters and all those who lost their lives on September 11th, and we continue to remember those who have suffered and passed from 9/11-related illnesses in the years since.
