This one will be quite a challenge… Architect Archimedes Russell’s Lincoln Auditorium was built in 1907 as part of the then Syracuse Central High School, and as the “new” home for the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. The room’s acoustics were designed by noted acoustician W.C. Sabine (Boston Symphony Hall), and enlarged to 1,875 seats in 1928. It has hosted performances by George Gershwin, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Nelson Eddy, the Vienna Boys Choir, The Trapp Family Singers, Duke Ellington, Joan Sutherland, and Arthur Fiedler, among many others. Abandoned in the 1970’s, it will now be restored as part of the Syracuse City STEAM High School project. I’m honored and humbled to not only be the Theatre Consultant on this important local venue, but also to have helped develop its Entertainment Technology curriculum. I’m sure it will be quite a ride!
