4/30/2026 CUSTOMER UPDATE - We have received more information regarding the "NEW COMPANY" that has been going around, they are now having the customers call us or email us, they are having the customers sign a year contract and giving them 3 months free but charging their cards and inform them they will go up in prices. They are also still telling customers they are taking over our route and that we are going out of business, again that is not true at all. Out of the few we have had go with the other company, over half have already had issues and returned with us. Again, we would never discourage anyone from going with another service, we just don't want anyone to get taken advantage of, so please just make sure you do your research, even search them on Facebook and you will see all the comments of what happened to the people in Hoke County. 4/16/2026 CUSTOMER ALERT - UPDATE TO PREVIOUS POST REGARDING "NEW COMPANY" in YOUR AREA - PLEASE READ & SHARE WITH NEIGHBORS AND IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD GROUPS!!

We have received MORE reports about a “New” garbage company going door-to-door in your area, and we want to keep everyone aware of what is happening.

Customers are being told:
• You do NOT have to do anything — first the yellow post card, now a "PINK SLIP" will transfer your service for you
• They are collecting personal information on a clipboard
• They are charging credit cards $45.00 immediately
• They claim service will begin May 1st and some of you will receive a container in May and some have been told they would get the container within a week, the few customers who did pay them have yet to receive their cans and have already reported fraud on their credit cards and returned back to our service

PLEASE BEWARE, We are also now hearing that:
• Phones are NOT being answered when customers are finding out about this situation and trying to get their money back and cancel with them.
• Customers are NOT receiving containers or refunds
• This same situation is still happening in Hoke County and they are sending “charming, handsome looking individuals” according to those who have called us and they have gone from giving customers yellow post cards to send to Cumberland Garbage to cancel their service, to now leaving pink slips stating your service will automatically transfer.

IMPORTANT: YES THIS HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE PROPER PEOPLE!
YOUR SERVICE WILL NOT TRANSFER, We are NOT affiliated in ANY way with this “New” or any other company. We will NEVER send someone door-to-door to collect your personal or payment information on a clipboard. If someone approaches you, DO NOT provide any information or payment. Please do your research before signing up with any other company, especially one that goes door to door and check their phone number that is given to you. Although we would never discourage any one from going to another company, we also would never want our customers taken advantage of. We sincerely appreciate every customer who has continued to call to notify us and everyone who continues to support and stay loyal to our company. We want to take a moment to address something important that has recently been brought to our attention. Several of you have contacted us regarding a new trash company going door-to-door in your areas, claiming to be the “new” garbage service and suggesting that we are no longer in business.

We want to be very clear: we are NOT closing. Our company has proudly served this community for 52 years, and we remain committed to providing the reliable, dependable service you have come to expect from us. While you always have the freedom to choose the service that best fits your needs, we strongly encourage you to use caution and do your research before making any changes.

We have been informed that similar situations have occurred in nearby areas, where customers switched services and prepaid after being given misleading information—only to experience missed pickups, lack of service and loss of money, ultimately returning to their original provider. Your trust means everything to us. We sincerely appreciate your loyalty over the years and are especially grateful to those of you who took the time to notify us about this situation! Your support allows us to continue doing what we’ve done for decades—serving you with honesty and consistency.

Please also be cautious when sharing personal or payment information. We advise against providing credit card details to anyone going door-to-door without thoroughly verifying who they are and the legitimacy of their company. Update 6:58pm last truck just got in, and again due to landfill closing early there is a few streets in College Downs and all of Kamenbury subdivision will be picked up tomorrow

Update 1:54 - If you live in the Braxton Hills subdivision off of Honeycutt Rd/McArthur Rd they will be back in your area tomorrow morning please have your items curbside by 6am! That truck loaded out and the County closed the landfill early today. We apologize for this inconvenience.

We will update again if there are any other areas that they are unable to get to today and they are still running a little behind in some areas.

Our crews are out and running Mondays pick up area for the time being but they are delayed.

The safety of our crews is our top priority and if the weather takes a turn we will notify you here and on our information line of any changes in the pick up schedule. They have also been instructed to lay the cans down after dumping because of the winds.

Again this is for paying customers of Cumberland Garbage & Trash and we are not affiliated with the City of Fayetteville Sanitation Department.

Our crews have been working diligently this week and late in to the evening to get to all our customers and will continue to work thru tomorrow. If you have not been picked up this week please continue to leave your items curbside and if it is not picked up over the weekend then they will be back on regular schedule starting Monday Feb 9. Please have all your items curbside by 6am on your pick up day.

We are on the road and getting started! We will do our best to get to all areas this week. Please have and LEAVE your items curbside by 6am!! We are hoping to get to all areas by Saturday. Reminder there is NO YARD DEBRIS PICK UP THIS WEEK!

Please be patient as we navigate the rest of this week and the possibility of more inclement weather on the way. Also we are experiencing high call volume at the office, please utilize our online payment system to make payments by going to http://cumberlandgarbage.com/ in the top right click PAY YOUR BILL, then enter your account number located at the top right of your coupon booklet and your last name. If you are unable to make a payment online we ask you wait and give us a call on Friday to leave the lines open for pick up questions.
