Well here it is folks, and please bear with me. As an old soldier taught and accustomed to "powering through" it's been a mentally exhausting battle with myself to get to the point of writing this:
Over the last year medical issues (cataract surgery, tumor removal on my arm) slowed down my ability to work, particularly; to work fast and long hours. Just as I was getting some of the strength back, the "wear down" accelerated...I am now pending fusion surgery on my neck (C6 &C5) and some bone removal on C7. Once healed from that, the process for shoulder surgeries begins (yes, surgeries! Both shoulders have multiple rotator cuff tears). And somewhere/sometime in the mix I'll likely get a spinal stimulator implant. I'm going to hold off on the carpal tunnel surgeries as long as possible.
With all of these upcoming surgeries, physical therapy, healing, etc I've been forced into making the difficult decision to effectively "temporarily" shut down the business for what could be 6mths to a year.
For the time being, i will maintain my shop location and work on current "on the bench" items as I am able. No new work will be taken in (some exclusions do apply, ie: urgent repairs, 1st responders, fire/ems, etc). I will also continue laser engraving services (small scale/size) and refer larger laser projects (beyond my machine's size/capability) to my buddy Kurt Ballash at Ballash Woodworks .

We will also continue the leather workshops through the artisan's outreach/Ballash Woodworks and WWP. I'll be putting instructional videos together for demonstration purposes for those classes over the next few weeks and retain those as available resources for students.

Thank you for your understanding
Steve.

Ok time to fill everyone in: for the last few months my vision has been getting worse and worse, to the point I can barely thread a needle...even on my machines. Because of the vision issues I haven't been able to achieve the quality I'm accustomed to achieving (longer stitch runs are virtually impossible for me to keep straight. So, I've been spending less and less time in the shop, actually considered shutting down altogether (Kurt and Erin talked me out of that).
The diagnosis is: cataracts in both eyes and astigmatism, corrective surgery is scheduled for next month on one eye then 3-4wks later on the other. Then a final 3-4wks of recovery time and we'll see how it works out.
I will continue doing some repairs, small projects and teaching classes during this process as I am able. For those who have big projects currently in my shop I will do as much as possible but I will not send out an inferior product just to "clear my board". Please have patience with me and understand it has taken alot just for me deal with this and more so to make this public.

Ok I know it's been quite awhile since we've post so here's what's been happening: we're still in process of a complete shop "tear down" and reorganizing, done some construction (walls and a door finally!), full detailed inventory, main sewing machine had a breakdown so we're working on that and we've got $6000 worth of new machines coming to make space for... all while still working on current orders, teaching, scheduling and prepping for workshops. So it's been a bit hectic and discombobulated but we are slowly getting back on track!

It's been a while since we've posted. I was out for about two weeks and still slowly recovering and getting back into the shop. We're currently working on dog collars (avaliable exclusively through The Downtown Market Of Fayetteville ) another batch of shave kit bags for Cardinal Beard Co. And hopefully unveiling a brand new item by Friday (it's a big one and a game changer!!)

Now that various organizations and companies have started organizing relief efforts for my home state of KY (I hail from one town over from Mayfield and have people in town), Spartan Customs will be auctioning off the solo saddle bag (to start with at least). All monies will go to rustic burger to aide with at least fuel costs for their support run(s). Spartan Customs will not accept donations, we ask those be given directly to rustic burger (I can provide a cash app for them on request). I've chosen them due to knowing them personally and trusting them completely.
This 1st auction will close at 4pm wensday, auction winner will be announced after 5pm day of close. Winning bid will be paid directly to Rustic burger's cash app by winner. Spartan customs will not handle any monies for these auctions.

Edit: to bid, enter bid amount in comments or PM...winning bid will be according to timestamp on comment/message

Just to let everyone know, we've been super busy both at the shop and in our personal lives; but we have managed to get 1st delivery of wallets to The Downtown Market Of Fayetteville, Cardinal Beard Co. Will have gift sets with bags by Spartan Customs and we'll be starting on an order for Garnet Skull soon as we've finished refurbing and organizing the shop (almost done with that part). The refurb is neccessary to increase productivity and reduce distraction/searching "for the tool i just had". As we continue to refine and streamline the process products will become more available at your favorite local stores and through our shop (note some items are sold exclusively through our retail partners as it allows us to focus on product development and order fulfillment)
