Ferguson Digital Watch Ferguson Digital Watch is being formed to help establish a video neighborhood watch program in Fergu A camera costs about $300.

We are working towards a community-funded and operated Digital Neighborhood Watch in Ferguson as part of the On Watch program. Video captured by commercial and residential security systems has become an important tool in helping police solve crimes. Our goal is to piece together a network of video security cameras in every neighborhood in Ferguson. The video cameras won’t stop a crime when it’s occurring, but if they capture a face or license plate it can give the police a far better chance of identifying the culprits as they investigate. There are lots of different ways for residents to participate:

* Register your existing video security system. If you have a security system with exterior facing video and would be willing to share video with the police, we are asking you to send us an email so we can add your contact information to a registry that will be shared with the Police. We need your address, the street or intersection your system captures and if you also have other outside views, such as your backyard.

* Buy a video camera and point it at your street. Any high resolution exterior video camera will work, with the video captured either on your home computer or in Cloud Storage on the Internet. Several homeowners could work together to buy one camera for their street. Video storage on your home computer is free; video storage on the Internet can cost $100 to $200 per year.

* Help us select one IP video camera that we can recommend. There are lots of camera and storage options out there. If we can do the research to come up with a recommended camera and storage plan it will make it easier for residents to buy a camera and participate in the digital neighborhood watch program.

* Help install video cameras. For a lot of our residents, setting up the video camera and storage will be a technology challenge. It would be great if we had a few tech savvy residents that could volunteer their time to install cameras for those that need help.

* Help review footage. Actually using the video to help the police will require some work – someone will have to review footage to see if it has captured a car or license plate. If residents do not have time to review their video footage, volunteers could help (with the owner’s permission, of course). We would like to build a list of volunteers that are willing to review video so the police don’t have to do so.

* Evaluate Project NOLA. Based in New Orleans, Project NOLA is a community funded video surveillance network with over 1600 cameras throughout the City. Project NOLA, a not for profit, works with communities like Ferguson to help them create and even operate a video surveillance network for their community. http://projectnola.org

We can help keep Ferguson safe. Ferguson is going in the right direction, but it’s going to take some time to rebuild our police force. A digital neighborhood watch program can be an important tool for police, helping their efforts to keep Ferguson safe.

Hi everybody, I need your help! If you want to send a message, vote for ME on Nov 5, and PLEASE SHARE THIS POST.

The Better Party is a new political party formed here in Missouri to give voters a third option in the middle. The only way to get the attention of the two major parties is to GIVE VOTERS AN ALTERNATIVE. If you think the Democrats and Republicans are becoming too extreme, that the two-party system is failing our country, please help spread the word and help raise awareness that there is a better choice for our Country.

The new Better Party collected over 25,000 signatures to be on the ballot this year and needs at least 2% of the votes on November 5th to be recognized by Missouri as an official political party. This will allow us to run candidates in 2026 and 2028.

This is your chance to send a message that we are tired of the madness!

It’s time to revisit the Department of Justice Report on the Ferguson Police Department.

Not to undo the many needed police reforms that started here in Ferguson, nor to slow the pace of progress. Instead, just the opposite – to enable necessary reforms to continue. Because without good data, we will not have effective policies. The Ferguson Police Department certainly wasn’t above reproach. However the Department of Justice purposely manipulated the report to support its demands for sweeping changes in the Department. This mischaracterization of police actions often continues to this day, and it is an impediment to effective, realistic police reforms.

Below is my recent commentary on the DOJ report.

Exploring Ferguson’s impact on policing, this op-ed delves into ongoing debates and dialogues shaping future community and law enforcement dynamics.

If you are a Democrat, please vote for Wesley Bell in today’s primary

The Better Party was founded because of growing extremism of the two major parties. It is an attempt to push back against the extremism and hopefully bringing moderation back to our political conversation.

By chance St. Louis is represented by one of the most extreme Democrats, Congresswoman Cori Bush. She isn’t liberal – she is extreme, the embodiment of much of what is wrong with our political system. So if you are a democratic voter in Missouri’s 1st district, you have a unique opportunity to begin pushing back against extremism: You can help defeat Cori Bush.

You can vote for Wesley Bell in today’s Democratic Primary.

If Cori Bush is defeated by Democrats, in the Democratic Primary, it will send a very loud message to extremists everywhere, in both parties, that it’s time for the madness to end.
It’s time to get back to thoughtful, effective conversations in the middle. I’ve known Wesley for a decade. He is more liberal than I am. But I can also tell you that he is a principled person, that puts in the work. When Cori Bush was defending protesters that burned down Ferguson businesses, include Black-owned businesses, Wesley Bell, as a member of the Ferguson City Council, was working with the Department of Justice to negotiate a plan for improving policing here in Ferguson. When Cori Bush was bragging about voting AGAINST fixing our streets and roads, Wesley Bell was implementing diversion programs to help break the school to prison pipeline.

When she was making headlines, he was making a difference. There’s an old, old saying – The Revolution will not be televised. Because the real change doesn’t come from people like Bush demanding we burn everything down. Real change comes from people like Wesley Bell quietly, effectively finding ways to make things better.

So if you are a democratic voter that supports the cause of social justice, if you are tired of the madness infecting our political system, you have a chance to do something about it.

You can vote for Wesley Bell in the August 6 democratic primary. The 1st District, AND our country would be better for it.
