About 40 years ago… my dad, John White, at the farm.

No vineyard. No tasting room. No live music.

Just long days, simple moments, and the kind of life where people pulled up a chair, stayed awhile, and enjoyed being together.

Looking at this photo reminds me that maybe not much has really changed.

Twisted Trail was never meant to just be a place to grab a drink. It was meant to feel like those moments… slowing down, gathering with people you care about, listening to music, and making time for each other.

This Father’s Day weekend, we’re raising a glass to the dads, grandpas, and father figures who taught us that some of life’s best memories happen in ordinary moments.

If your dad is still here, bring him.
If your dad lives in your memories, raise a glass for him too.

Have you claimed this chair yet? 🍷

One of our favorite corners inside the tasting room at Twisted Trail.

If you’ve visited and relaxed in this chair, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced exactly what we hoped people would feel here... slow down, stay awhile, enjoy the moment.

This chair (along with a few other antiques in the tasting room) came from Moth and Butterfly in Hillsboro.

We love visiting with owner Grace and wandering her shop looking for pieces that feel like they belong here. Some of our favorite details in the winery started as conversations and inspiration found there.

Supporting local and surrounding ourselves with makers, collectors, and small businesses has always been important to us, and Twisted Trail is better because of it.

Twisted Trail has been built one memory, one conversation, and one meaningful detail at a time. and we love sharing those stories with you.

Thank you to everyone who came out today to enjoy wine, music, BBQ, and spend part of your Saturday with us.

Seeing people gathering, relaxing, catching up with friends, meeting new people, and enjoying this space together is exactly what we hoped Twisted Trail would become.

Huge thanks to Brad Noe Music for the great entertainment and Junie B's and Smoking Guns BBQ for the delicious food.

Missed today? Good news… Brad will be back tomorrow (Sunday, June 14) from 2–5 PM and the winery will be open 12–7 PM 🍷

And the answer to yesterday's post… the light fixture above the bar. ✨🍷

It may seem like a small detail, but the warm glow and cozy feeling it created stuck with us long after we left Germany. When we designed our space at Twisted Trail Winery, we knew we wanted to recreate that same inviting atmosphere.

Every time we look up at it, we’re reminded of that rainy Valentine’s Day, the incredible hospitality we experienced, and the feeling we hope every guest has when they visit us.

Earlier this year, our family had the opportunity to explore the Rhine River wine region in Germany… and one particular Valentine’s Day experience left a lasting impression on us. ❤️🍷

We spent the day hiking through the vineyards of Bischoffingen, a picturesque winegrowing village tucked into the volcanic Kaiserstuhl hills of southwestern Germany. Cold, rainy, steep… and absolutely worth it.

Along the way, we learned all about the vines, the soil, and the winemaking traditions of the region while trying to work off all the incredible German food we had been eating. (Keyword: trying. 😅)

After the hike, we stepped into a tiny tasting room with a roaring fire waiting for us at the home of vintner Ulrike Lenhardt and winemaker Armin Göring of Soring Vineyard. We sampled the very wines we had just hiked through while listening to stories about their family, their vineyard, and their passion for wine.

And somewhere between the fire, the hospitality, the wine, and the atmosphere… we saw something in their tasting room that we immediately knew we wanted to bring home and incorporate into Twisted Trail Winery.

Not because it was trendy or fancy.

But because of how it made us feel.

Warm. Relaxed. Comfortable. Connected.

Like we could sit there for hours sharing stories over a glass of wine.

That’s exactly how we want our guests to feel when they walk into Twisted Trail Winery. ❤️

Yes, we welcome well-behaved dogs on leashes in our outside spaces… and their owners too. 🐾🍷
