Have you been one of the many taxpayers receiving a CP53E notice from the IRS? These notices are being sent to taxpayers who did not include bank account information on their return. But be wary of potential fake notices! Read these tips from the Taxpayer Advocate Service on how to know if your notice is legit or a fake.
If in doubt, check your account information on the official IRS website (here) or just wait it out. They will send a paper check in 6 weeks.
