If you’re involved with environmental remediation, we’re the ones you should talk to first. Because, we’re the ones who can help you close that "keeps-me-up-at-night" environmental project. The one recalcitrant and forever nagging site that just keeps dragging on. If you’re already working on an environmental project, it can be frustrating how quickly the costs for site investigations and remediat

ion can add up – especially if closure keeps getting delayed. These factors and new, effective treatment methods, are the reason confidential peer reviews and qualified second opinions are necessary in the environmental industry. Whether the issue is: Chlorinated Solvents, Petroleum, Heavy Metals (Chromium, Nickel, Copper, Antimony), we’ve solved them all. Our effective time to closure speaks for itself and we believe our knowledge will help resolve your problem site.

In a site in southeastern Wisconsin, these samples (pictured) were pulled from the ground at approximately 90 ft (bgs). Based on the geologic background of the area, it is determined that these sediments, along with overlying sands and gravels, compose a glacial till plain.
The last time that area was covered by glaciers was more than 10,000 years ago!

"A light non-aqueous phase liquid (LNAPL) is a groundwater contaminant that is not soluble in water and has lower density than water. Once a LNAPL infiltrates the ground, it will stop at the height of the water table because of its density. Efforts to locate and remove LNAPLs are relatively less expensive and easier than for DNAPLs because LNAPLs float on top of the water in the underground water table."

Some examples of LNAPL's would be benzene, toluene, xylene, and other hydrocarbons. Pictured below is a bailer of water contaminated with an unidentified LNAPL (darker fluid). This sample was removed from a former drinking well.

Explosive Methane Levels Can Be Misleading

METHANE ACCUMULATING IN MONITORING WELL CAP can pose a significant explosion danger. So, the original consultant recommended an expensive methane mitigation system.

However, AcuityES understood that while reductive dechlorination sites will produce low levels of methane, it usually bioattenuates in less than five feet of soil. Read how critical thinking, saved this client a substantial price tag.
