Today we honor Juneteenth — June 19, 1865, the day enslaved people in Galveston, Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.

It's a day of celebration, reflection, and remembrance. A reminder that freedom delayed is still freedom denied, and that the work of building a just, equitable community continues.

We're going to be honest with you.

Most business owners in Flagstaff who plan to sell someday are not as ready as they think they are. Not because they haven't worked hard. Because nobody ever showed them what a serious buyer actually looks for until they were already sitting across the table from one.

By then it's usually too late.

On July 14th we're bringing Melisa Mahoney to Flagstaff to change that. Melisa has been the buyer. She's gone through SBA financing, sat through due diligence, and made the call on whether a business was worth buying. She built this workshop around what she saw from that side of the table, because she wished more sellers had known it before she met them.

It's free. It's 75 minutes. And it's limited to 30 people so that it actually feels like a room and not a lecture hall.

If you own a business and have ever thought "I'll figure out the exit when the time comes," this is the room you want to be in first.

On April 7th, Moonshot brought Tech Innovation with an Altitude to Flagstaff's Lowell Observatory as part of — and the energy in that room was something else.

Honoring Angela Hamby's Service as Director of Operations, Flagstaff Campus

💫 7 Years of Dedication, Leadership & Community💫

Some people fill a role. Others transform everything around them. Angela Hamby is the second kind.

After more than seven years at Moonshot, Angela is embarking on her next chapter — and we want to take a moment to celebrate the remarkable legacy she leaves behind. What began as a coordinator support role grew, through sheer dedication and vision, into one of the most impactful leadership positions on our Flagstaff Campus.

As Director of Operations of the Flagstaff Campus, Angela became the connective tissue between Moonshot, the City of Flagstaff's Economic Development team, and every entrepreneur and tenant who walked through our doors. Under her leadership, tenant occupancy climbed from 60% to an impressive 96% by 2025, and she planned and executed more than 100 workshops and events for the local community.

In 2020, Angela launched WE Mean Business (now called Rocket Fuel) — a monthly gathering designed to elevate and support women entrepreneurs in Flagstaff. Each session spotlighted a woman-owned business, bringing real expertise and lived experience to the room. When COVID-19 forced closures, Angela swiftly moved the program online, keeping community alive at a time when isolation threatened to pull people apart. Participation remained strong, a testament to how deeply these gatherings resonated.

As in-person meetings returned, the program flourished. Participants didn't just attend — they formed lasting professional connections, collaborated across industries, and actively supported one another through referrals and shared services. The relationships and testimonials that continue to emerge speak to something rare: a program built with genuine care.

Angela also invested deeply in her own growth. In 2025, she earned a Foundations of Digital Marketing and E-Commerce certificate, along with an Entrepreneurial Center Management certification through InBIA — a leading global advocate for incubators, accelerators, and economic development organizations.

Angela, thank you for the energy you poured into this campus, this community, and the women entrepreneurs who found their footing in rooms you built for them. Moonshot is stronger because of you — and wherever your next chapter takes you, we know you'll leave it better than you found it.

OneAZ Credit Union Invests $150K in Moonshot AZ to Expand Opportunities for Rural Entrepreneurs Across Arizona

🚀 Supporting the 2026 Rural Arizona Pitch Tour, the partnership brings funding, mentorship, and resources to 20 communities statewide.

“We’re proud to partner with Moonshot AZ to support entrepreneurs across rural Arizona,” said Mike Boden, President and CEO of OneAZ Credit Union. “This partnership allows us to invest in local innovation, expand access to opportunity, and help small businesses thrive where they’re needed most.”

“Entrepreneurs are the backbone of strong, resilient communities,” Boden added. “By supporting the Rural Arizona Pitch Tour, we’re helping create pathways for growth, financial empowerment, and long-term economic impact across the state.”

In addition to mentorship and local prize opportunities, every competitor who applies and attends a tour stop will receive a $5,500 Moonshot AZ membership at no cost, providing ongoing access to tools, resources, and support.
