We are excited to announce a new chapter for Carolina HR!

After years of dedicated leadership, Steve Murphy has officially retired and transferred ownership of Carolina HR. We sincerely thank Steve for the strong foundation he built and wish him all the best in his retirement.

Effective May 18, 2026, Michelle Burnett became Owner and President of Carolina HR. Michelle has been a part of the Carolina HR team since October 2016 and brings more than 18 years of Human Resources and Payroll experience. During her time with the company, she has worked in every aspect of the business, including payroll and benefits administration, HR management consulting, operations, and sales.

When asked about the transition, Michelle had this to say:

“As the new owner, I am honored to continue serving our clients and community while leading Carolina HR into the future. I remain committed to providing the dependable HR, payroll, and benefits support our clients have come to trust. Most importantly, I want to thank our clients, partners, and community for your continued trust and support during this transition. I am excited about the future and look forward to building even stronger relationships in the years ahead."
