🚨 BUSINESS MILEAGE UPDATE | 2026

Business owners and self-employed taxpayers: 2026 has TWO business mileage rates. 👀

The IRS updated the standard business mileage rate effective July 1, 2026:

📌 January 1 – June 30: 72.5¢ per mile
📌 July 1 – December 31: 76¢ per mile

That means mileage records should reflect when the business miles were driven — not simply the total mileage for the year. (IRS)

Keeping accurate, timely records is an important part of proper tax preparation. Business owners should be tracking business miles, maintaining supporting documentation, and understanding the difference between business travel and commuting.
