Out on these job sites I'm seeing a lot of AI generated policies and procedures. I know that you guys think that chat GPT is your friend but I am here to tell you that it may be your friend but it may not be the owner's friend when it comes to having to defend them in a libel suit.
If you insist on using AI to write your policies instead of just good old-fashioned human ingenuity and a set of eyes on them then you should take the time to know the applicable law and know the industry standard to see ensure that the information that AI has given you is applicable to your facility's operations and licensing. The state can hold you to anything that your policy says.
By the way, Texas freestanding emergency centers are not under EMTALA. EMTALA is Federal, FECs are not participating in federal programs. However the Texas administrative code governs the operations of the freestanding emergency centers in Texas which are required to provide a medical screening regardless of the patient's ability to pay. Oh and by the way this also applies to ambulance traffic. You can't turn away an ambulance that shows up to your ambulance bay. Whoever told you that this was acceptable practice is lying to you.
