We're hiring an estimator!
Position Summary
The Estimator analyzes plans, specifications, and field conditions to prepare estimates for excavation, site development, and underground utility projects. This position requires a strong understanding of heavy civil construction methods, production rates, and jobsite conditions.
What You’ll Do
• Prepare detailed, accurate estimates from plans, specs, and bid documents
• Perform takeoffs for earthwork, pipe installation, structures, and restoration
• Evaluate site conditions, soil reports, and utility conflicts
• Solicit and analyze pricing from subcontractors and suppliers
• Build complete bid packages including scope, assumptions, and exclusions
• Work closely with project managers and field teams to ensure estimates reflect real-world conditions
• Identify risks, cost drivers, and opportunities for value engineering
• Attend pre-bid meetings and perform site walks as needed
• Maintain and update cost history and production data
• Support project handoff by clearly communicating scope, budgets, and key assumptions
What We’re Looking For
• Experience in heavy civil, excavation, or underground utility estimating
• Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and production rates
• Ability to read and interpret civil drawings and specifications
• Proficiency with estimating software and digital takeoff tools
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple bids under tight deadlines
• Team-oriented with clear and effective communication skills
