I am super excited to announce!
Tomorrow (Tuesday August 9th) we will be presenting the first ever outdoor temporary art installation in Florence!

All the artwork has been created by the kids of Florence! And these kids are so talented. All the projects were created at The Impossible Dream Studio in our Summer Art Camp - with the guidance of Paige, Bob and Zip. The 3 amigos! If you haven't met Bob and Zip yet, you should put it first on your to-do list. ;)

After 12pm we invite you all to 209 East Main Street. Everyone of all ages should come see how creative the kids in our community are.

This photo is the “before” make sure you walk/drive to see the “after”!

The exhibit will be up for one week only. so don’t miss out!

And a big shout out to David creator/owner/operator of the Impossible Dream Studio, where I had the privilege to teach classes this summer. His studio has all the right vibes to let kids be creative and do their own thing (and he has some really great mixtapes too). The work the kids made is on display thanks to Melanie Jamison, who has been so supportive of art for kids in our community.

AUGUST ART CLASSES FOR KIDS!!!

Henri Matisse!!

I teach art classes for kids ages 6 - 12 in Florence.
The kids in my classes are super talented.
If kids think they aren't artistic I want to show them Matisses work! All the work below was cutouts on paper. All it takes is some imagination, a piece of paper and a pair of scissors.

The next 80 million dollar art piece could be produced in Florence, America! Pretty fitting since some of the greatest pieces of art in the world were created in Florence, Italy.

Who is the angel that mailed me a package full of Manila envelopes? I send the kids home with their paintings and drawings in these! These supplies help keep me able to teach classes affordably for all kids. thank you so much for your donation!!! I am so grateful for everyone that has supported our art classes!

We will be taking our art outside to share with the public!
We will be creating temporary art
on Main St. in Florence (with permission of course).
Parents and residents can admire the students work out "in the wild"
- we will be outside from 9am -12pm so dress accordingly i.e. shorts, hat, sunscreen

Mondays and Tuesdays
9am-12pm
$45 dollars per class
ages 6-12

This was a class favorite! 4 ingredients you can find in any kitchen and you can create a Lava Lamp! Each student got to make their own lamp and take it home to keep enjoying its magic!

This weeks topic was ”Magic” and we had fun experimenting with different materials and how they reacted with each other.

A lot of the projects we do are experimental and what I would consider “temporary” art. Art lives out in the world and isn’t bound to paper, canvas or pinned to the fridge.

When we experiment with liquids and see what happens when we mix oil and water or how the molecules in milk, food coloring and dish soap separate. We make temporary art!!

We took a science lesson and created something beautiful at the same time. It appeared and disappeared, just like magic!!

We use photography (on our phones!) to capture what was a temporary experience in the studio and post online to share the experience with others!

We are taking a break next week from Art School but will be back the following Monday and Tuesday.

I absolutely love teaching these classes! It’s so fun to see kids from all different ages take a project and make it completely unique and individual to themselves. They help each other, they share materials and they laugh. They laugh a lot! I have as much fun as they do. Lol. Next up! This Monday and Tuesday we will be doing “Practical Magic!” 🔮 come join us for some cool science meets art projects!!

“Mother Nature” art classes were so much fun!! We used materials that were found in nature to make our art pieces! We learned about repurposing items we already have to create art that promotes our planet. The students spelled out their names in foliage, made bugs from clay and leaves (and cherry stems!) we learned that we can use a Coke can to roll out clay if we don’t have a rolling pin and all sorts of other cool creative solutions to preserve and recycle and reuse our resources. We had a great time!!
