I enjoyed sharing with the elementary students at New Covenant Christian School.
For this devotion, of course I tied in how God created everything and that includes the honeybees. I shared with the students how God created them with a plan and purpose just like He did with these little honeybees. Just like the bees, they may be little but they’re never to young for God to use them.

Colossians 1:16 - For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him.

It was such a fun day helping in the Central MS Beekeeper’s booth at the state fair today. Overflow Honey Co. is happy to partner with the Association this year to offer a place for our local beekeepers to display and sale their honey. There’s so many delicious flavors, blends, infused and creamed honeys to choose from.
You can also learn more about honeybees and see them up close in the observation hive.

And that’s not all! We’ve asked several others to join us including our daughter Bella who will be here selling her delicious baked goods - cakes, cookies and bread.
We’ll also have a couple of farmers joining us to talk about homesteading and the items they sell from their farm.

Of course Overflow Honey Co. will be available to discuss and sell equipment.

Should You Refrigerate Honey?

Yesterday as I was shopping in Kroger I noticed this honey on a shelf attached to a freezer door. It was definitely cold to the touch.

So the answer to the question is no!
Refrigeration is not necessary for safety, and it tends to make honey crystallize faster. Mississippi State University Extension says honey starts to form crystals as it ages or if it is refrigerated. If you want honey to stay smooth and easy to pour, a pantry shelf is a better place for it.

Crystallization is normal, but the cool temperatures will speed up the process.

If honey crystallizes, gentle warming can help return it to a liquid state. Place the honey in a safe container and set in warm water until it clears.

For all you beekeepers out there, I did speak to 3 employees and suggest they move the honey to another location . ☺️

It’s National Coffee Day and we’ve got you covered with plenty of your favorite sweetener in stock! 🍯

Many of our customers share with us that they purchase honey mainly for adding to their coffee. And why not? Honey in coffee is one of the easiest health swaps you can make.

Most people find that honey makes their coffee taste richer and more rounded than plain sugar. Light honey blends in gently while darker honey gives a bolder flavor.

We’re curious… do you add honey to your coffee?

Just a quick reminder that we’re closed the rest of the week.

I promise we’re not turning our bee business page into a fishing page, but I thought you might would like to see some pretty cool pics of Overflow Honey Co. being represented on Norfork Lake in the Bassmaster Elite Qualifiers.
