Health officials are warning about a multi-state outbreak of Cyclospora, an intestinal illness that can cause severe diarrhea and last for weeks. A supplier of shredded iceberg lettuce has recalled products distributed in 27 states amid an ongoing investigation into the cause of the outbreak.

Officials are urging consumers to check recall notices, avoid eating affected lettuce and follow food-safety precautions to reduce their risk of getting sick.
