The US Forest Service will be conducting prescribed fire operations this weekend.

Location: Park County, 5 Miles west of Florissant.

Smoke will be present in the area over the weekend. Burning will start Friday morning.

🚒 Ballot Issue 6C 🚒

For more than two years, Florissant Fire Protection District has been evaluating the need for significant improvements to its facilities, apparatus, and equipment. These needs, along with potential solutions, have been discussed during multiple community meetings.

With no mill levy increase in over 20 years, the district is bringing Ballot Issue 6C before voters this November.

The proposed 3.2-mill increase would provide additional funding to support:

• Construction of a larger fire station in Florissant.

• Improvements and upgrades to existing fire stations.

• Replacement of aging fire apparatus, equipment, and firefighter safety gear.

Florissant Fire Rescue serves approximately 6,500 residents across 66 square miles and is one of the busiest volunteer fire agencies in Colorado.

As the November 2026 election approaches, residents are encouraged to learn more about the proposal, ask questions, and make an informed decision.

🔥 Florissant Fire Protection District

Volunteers were called to Pikes Peak Drive in Florissant Heights just after midnight. A large ponderosa came down in last nights storm and was completely blocking the road.

It took 45 minutes to open back up the road. Special thanks to the Teller County Sheriff's Office for the assistance.

Our volunteers respond to more than just fires. They are all hazards and community responders.
