🎒 HEALTHY BACK-TO-SCHOOL FOODS YOU CAN FIND AT YOUR FAVORITE GROCERY STORES! 🛒

Back-to-school season means busy mornings, packed lunches, and “What can I pack for snack?” about 47 times a week. 😂

Here are some easy, dietitian-approved options from Trader Joe’s, Costco, Aldi & Whole Foods to make feeding your family a little easier!

Think protein + fiber + produce + carbs when building snacks and lunches. You don’t need fancy recipes—just convenient foods that your kids will actually eat! 🙌

✨ A few easy combos:
🍎 Apple + peanut butter
🧀 Cheese + whole grain crackers + grapes
🥕 Carrots + hummus + pretzels
🥛 Greek yogurt + berries + granola
🍿 Popcorn + fruit + cheese stick
🥚 Hard-boiled egg + mini bagel + fruit

Remember: Healthy eating doesn’t have to mean making everything from scratch. Convenience foods can absolutely fit into a balanced diet!

🎒 Back-to-school lunches don’t have to be complicated!

Use this simple Kid-Friendly Lunch Formula to build a balanced lunch your kids will actually enjoy. 🙌

Aim to include 1–2 foods from each category:
🍓 Fruit – berries, apples, bananas, grapes, dried fruit & more
🥕 Veggies – carrots, cucumbers, peppers, corn, edamame & more
🥚 Protein + Dairy – deli meat, beef sticks, eggs, chicken nuggets, cheese, nut butter & more
🥨 Carbs – whole grain bread, crackers, pasta, waffles, hummus, granola, pretzels & more

The goal isn’t a “perfect” lunch—it’s a lunch that provides variety, balance, and foods your child feels comfortable eating. ❤️

💡 Easy tip: Let your child pick one food from each category when packing their lunch. Giving them choices can make mealtime more positive while still creating a balanced meal.

Save this post for your next grocery trip and send it to a parent who needs easy lunch inspiration! 📚✨

A GLP-1 can help change appetite and hunger.

But it doesn't tell you:

❓ What should I eat when I'm barely hungry?
❓ How much protein do I actually need?
❓ What do I do when I'm nauseous?
❓ How can I prevent constipation?
❓ Am I getting enough vitamins and minerals?
❓ How do I protect my muscle?
❓ What happens when my weight plateaus?
❓ How do I build habits that last?

That's where a dietitian comes in.

Nutrition support during GLP-1 treatment can help you focus on much more than weight loss.

We can help you:

🥩 Prioritize protein and lean mass
🥗 Build nutrient-dense meals with smaller portions
💧 Support hydration and digestion
🤢 Navigate GI side effects
💊 Identify potential nutrient gaps
🏋️ Support resistance training and physical activity
🧠 Build sustainable eating behaviors
📈 Navigate plateaus and medication transitions

Your GLP-1 is one tool in your toolbox.

Our goal is to help you build the nutrition and lifestyle skills to support your health while you're taking it—and beyond.

The scale stopped moving. Now what?

First: don't panic. ❤️

Weight loss rarely happens in a perfectly straight line. As your body changes, your energy needs and physiology can change too.

A plateau doesn't automatically mean you need to:

❌ Cut more calories
❌ Skip meals
❌ Eliminate carbohydrates
❌ Exercise excessively
❌ Give up

Instead, take a step back and look at the bigger picture.

Are you:

🥩 Getting enough protein?
🏋️ Doing resistance training?
🍽️ Eating enough to support your body?
🚶 Staying active throughout the day?
💧 Staying hydrated?
😴 Getting adequate sleep?

And remember: the scale isn't the only measure of progress.

Strength, energy, fitness, consistency, measurements, and improvements in health markers can all matter.

If you're taking a GLP-1, the goal isn't to chase the lowest possible number on the scale.

The goal is to support your health throughout the process.

That's exactly what we'll work on in my 6-week GLP-1 Nutrition Series, starting September 9.

One of the questions I hear most often is:

"What happens when I stop taking my GLP-1?"

The answer isn't exactly the same for everyone.

When medication is reduced or discontinued, the appetite-suppressing effects may lessen. Hunger and food cravings can change, and some people experience weight regain. Research has found that weight regain after stopping GLP-1-based medications can occur, which is one reason ongoing lifestyle and nutrition support is important.

But here's the important part:

Stopping a medication doesn't erase the habits you've built.

While taking a GLP-1, you have an opportunity to learn how to:

🥩 Meet your protein needs
🥗 Build balanced meals
💧 Stay hydrated
🏋️ Preserve muscle
🧠 Recognize eating patterns
📅 Create sustainable routines
❤️ Support your health beyond the scale

The goal isn't to become dependent on a perfect set of hunger cues.

The goal is to build skills that can support you through changes in medication, appetite, weight, and life.

That's one of the reasons nutrition counseling can be such an important part of GLP-1 treatment.

Never stop or change a prescribed medication without discussing it with your healthcare provider.

This is one of the biggest reasons I don't want GLP-1 nutrition to become simply:

"Eat fewer calories."

When food intake decreases substantially, it's possible for intake of essential vitamins and minerals to decrease too. Nutrients of concern can include iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, vitamins D and B12, among others.

Signs of inadequate nutrition can include things like:

• Unusual fatigue
• Weakness
• Hair loss
• Poor recovery
• Changes in skin or nails

That doesn't mean every person taking a GLP-1 needs a handful of supplements.

Food first. Individualized assessment second.

Your dietitian can help identify potential gaps and determine when food, supplementation, or conversations with your healthcare provider may be appropriate.
