Current rank map for the cleaning company website I started a month ago! July results brough in one phone call lead through the Google Business Profile and one form submission on the website that came from Google Search. Not a bad start for only 30 days of work on a brand new domain! Now to crank it up in August 😈

Most custom home builders think their portfolio sells the job.
It doesn't. Not online.
If a family is searching "custom home builder [your city]" and you're not on page one, your last build doesn't matter — they never see it.
Here's what actually gets you found:
A Google Business Profile that's fully built out, not just claimed.
Service pages for what you actually build — not one vague "our services" page.
Real project photos tied to real locations, not generic stock renderings.
Reviews that mention specifics: the neighborhood, the home type, the experience.
Your craftsmanship earns the referral. Your SEO earns the search.
Most builders only have one of those working for them.

Category: "Service Establishment."
SERVICE ESTABLISHMENT
Sir. You pour foundations. You move earth with machines that cost more than my house. You have built things that will outlive every person reading this post. And you told Google you're a service establishment, which is the digital equivalent of writing "guy who does stuff" on your business card and then wondering why nobody calls.
Three photos. All from 2019. One is a picture of the truck. In a parking lot. At night. Blurry.
Zero project photos. You have built entire homes and the only visual evidence Google has of your existence is a Silverado at dusk.
Meanwhile 90% of homeowners are using Google to find contractors right now and the top 3 map results are taking 42% of the clicks, and you're down at position 9 losing to a guy who registered his LLC in March and has a nicer profile than you because he took eleven pictures with his phone.
The description field is empty. EMPTY. Google handed you free real estate to explain what you do, and you left it blank like a permit application you got bored of.
I'm not even mad. I'm grieving. There's a 30-year-old company in there with real skill and real crews and real work, and Google has decided it doesn't exist because nobody spent forty-five minutes telling it otherwise.
Anyway. If you read this and got a weird feeling in your stomach, go look at your own profile.

A client of mine in Virginia is moving to Ohio. He notified me at the beginning of June and we got right to work so we could make sure his rankings were moving up prior to his move. As of yesterday, not only is he ranking. He's actually gotten multiple inquiries and ONE EVEN BOOKED ALREADY.

No on-site visit (becuase he's still in VA). He simply asked for photos of the build site and details of what they wanted. Then he worked up an estimate, and they booked the job on the spot. Now he doesn't just have rankings when he gets to Ohio, he's gonna have booked jobs waiting in line so there is no gap in his work schedule. And I'm just getting started 😈

I was focused on client work and didn't have time to post this yet, but for anyone keeping track, it was 10 days. 10 Days from site launch to first inquiry. For context this company has no other marketing right now.
🚫No social media pages
🚫No email marketing
🚫No networking events
🚫Nobodys face on the website or associated with the company in any way

It does have:
✅A properly optimized Google Business Profile
✅A fully optimized website
✅Conversion optimization on all pages
✅Backlinks & Local Citations

That's it. Now imagine what this strategy can do for your business that already has all of those other things working for it.

PS: Personal information was censored out of the screenshot for the customers privacy.

👷CUSTOMER APPRECIATION POST👷

I really enjoy SEO but the photography side of my business is still a favorite of mine. Being on-site with these guys, shedding light on the hard work they put in every day, along with the quality service they provide their clients. That's something I've always enjoyed and I want to thank all the companies that have given me the opportunity to do so!

"I'm worried SEO will make me too busy."
I hear this constantly, and it might be the weirdest objection I've seen.

Let me get this straight — you're going to turn down a system that fills your calendar because you might have to... scale your business? and make more money?

No business in history has ever gone under from too many leads. That's not a real problem. That's a good problem wearing a scary costume.

Here are the options when the leads start rolling in and you're not sure what to do.
1. You hire another crew. That's called growth. It's the thing you claim you want. Oh but then its "nobody wants to work". Fair enough, that can be a legit problem sometimes, so keep looking for them but move to option 2 at the same time.

2. Book your calendar out further. And before you tell me nobody will wait — I've watched homeowners wait over a YEAR for a specific deck builder because they wanted THAT guy and nobody else. People wait for quality. If they won't wait for you, the next lead probably will.

3. If you're still drowning with work? Raise your prices. This is the foolproof move. Yes, you'll book fewer jobs. That's the point. Same work, higher margins, healthier company, more profit in your pocket at the end of the year instead of a calendar full of cheap headaches.

"Too busy" isn't the risk. Staying exactly where you are is. Plus, you'll have my company ready to pick up additional admin work, customer service, and anything else that's done at a computer.
The guys who win aren't the ones protecting themselves from success. They're the ones building something that can handle it.

Here's an update on the new website and google business profile I launched on June 25th. Its already starting to move up in rankings. Don't get me wrong, this has a LONG way to go.

However, what we are seeing here is the start of Google trusting this company, AFTER ONLY FIVE DAYS. This tells me that we are, without a doubt, headed in the right direction. I'll keep you all posted when there's another development! 📈
