Better or Worse? This is the time of year most hunters and landowners begin thinking about ways to improve their property for next season. Ask youself this one extremely important question - did your property get better or worse as the season has progressed? If designed and hunted properly, your property should draw in deer like a vacuum as the season heats up, especially the daylight usage. Be honest with yourself when grading your property and come up with a game plan to improve your hunt for next year. The habitat season begins as soon as the seasons closes out. Good luck with the rest of your season🦌🦌

Wrapped up a northern Michigan property design recently and it really reminded me how incredibly important it is to utilize the terrain on your property to optimize your access to your stands. Get out there now before things green up and really take a look at your access routes and see if you can change your access to stay hidden or possibly areas that need some sort of screening added to keep your pressure low and access hidden. Beautiful late winter weather to dial in this falls stand locations now🦌🦌

Water Holes - With the early warm up and unusually thawed February water holes I used the opportunity to get the water holes cleaned up.

Water hole tips…
- make atleast 100 gallons to avoid drying up.
- Install along a travel corridor, near bedding and ALWAYS with bow range😉
- prefer to use the feeding troughs buried instead of conventionally dug water holes. This eliminates the dried up mud around the edges that leads to the potential for the midge that causes EHD.
- Always add a critter stick or two to allow any small mammals an opportunity to get out if they fall in. Nothing will shut down a water hole quicker than a dead critter in your water source.

Unless your property has water everywhere then water holes can create some great hunting opportunities and also make for interesting trail camera locations. You will be blown away at the amount of wildlife that uses these locations🦌🦌

Beautiful day to help a buddy drop a pile of maples as we opened the canopy while also using it to connect two bedding areas as well as create a nice visual barrier along one of his food plots. Can’t wait to see how things shape up with all the new sunlight!

Sharing an awesome 3D print of my Michigan 2023 Archery buck that my brother did. He is extremely talented and passionate about his hobby. Attached you can download his print. He did have to scale it down to 14” wide to fit his printer but sweet none the less. https://www.printables.com/model/734658-white-tailed-deer-skull

Opening up last years timber cutting during the cold spell to make better access for the deer for both bedding and feeding on all the new growth. Most import step after having a timber project done on your property is making it usable for the deer, especially within designed bedding areas. Killing some time between the last couple Lions victories. 🏈🦌
