Canada Post Strike Update – What It Means for Your Shipments & How Hipshipper Is Responding (Sept 2025)
On Thursday, Sept-25, Canada Post workers launched a nationwide strike with no advance warning. Unlike previous actions where strike notices were announced days in advance, this time the announcement was sudden — effective immediately. As of now, all parcels handled by Canada Post are not being delivered.
At Hipshipper, we’ve already taken action to protect your business and your buyers’ delivery experience.

🚛 What We’ve Done
We’ve switched all Canada-bound shipping to our Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) carrier network. While this option is more expensive (which is why it’s not used under normal circumstances), it’s currently the only reliable alternative. The good news: it comes with clear benefits —

✅ Smooth clearance and fewer delays

📦 What to Expect
Shipments already handed off to Canada Post are stuck until the strike ends. We will reach out to you individually with a report of your affected orders.

Canada Post Labor Update – Service Continues as Normal
Good news! The situation with Canada Post appears to be less disruptive than initially expected. While the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) has implemented a nationwide overtime ban, standard shipping services are continuing without major interruptions.
We had prepared for the possibility of a full strike, but the current limited labor action is not expected to significantly impact delivery times for most shipments.
As always, we’re actively managing and rotating between carriers to optimize both cost and reliability. Your shipments to Canada will continue to move smoothly, and we’ll adjust operations as needed to ensure the best service possible.
No action is required on your part — just keep shipping as usual.

Delays in Some Shipments to Brazil

Dear Hipshippers

We want to inform you about recent delays in some shipments to Brazil. Due to recent customs strikes and ongoing customs challenges in clearing backlogged volumes, packages are experiencing longer transit times. This is an industry-wide issue, and Hipshipper customers shipping via 'Standard' shipping may be impacted. Our team is in regular communication with the USPS and Correos as to the status.

International Shipping to Australia and New Zealand - Service update

Follow Hipshippers,

We wanted to let you know that the US Postal Service (USPS) is unable to secure transportation of packages to Australia and New Zealand and have suspended most services going there – including ePacket and PMI. Also, there are limited outbound flights from the USA to Australia and New Zealand, which makes things even more challenging.

Hipshipper continues to provide service to both Australia and New Zealand.

We have alternatives with Australia Post which we use but we wanted to at least let you know the situation – please expect delays as a result of the Covid-19 lockdowns locally in Australia and New Zealand

Hipshipper Covid-19 Status Update

Fellow HipShippers!

First and most important – I hope that you and your family are safe during this extraordinary time.

On our side, at HipShipper, we are closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation and its constantly changing effect on the logistics of getting parcels delivered around the world.

As an essential service, our processing facility remains open and operational.

Most postal administrations around the world have experienced only minor impacts with expected delays on delivery and currently we can deliver more than 97% of orders.

Unfortunately, there are temporary suspensions and interruptions due to airline restrictions into certain areas. Currently, we cannot ship to about 20 countries but all of them are insignificant destinations for your packages. In case you do get an order for such a destination we will cancel it and let you know. You can expect this situation to effect less than 3% of your international orders.

We will keep you updated and make any changes needed as events unfold.
