Canada Post Strike Update – What It Means for Your Shipments & How Hipshipper Is Responding (Sept 2025)
On Thursday, Sept-25, Canada Post workers launched a nationwide strike with no advance warning. Unlike previous actions where strike notices were announced days in advance, this time the announcement was sudden — effective immediately. As of now, all parcels handled by Canada Post are not being delivered.
At Hipshipper, we’ve already taken action to protect your business and your buyers’ delivery experience.
🚛 What We’ve Done
We’ve switched all Canada-bound shipping to our Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) carrier network. While this option is more expensive (which is why it’s not used under normal circumstances), it’s currently the only reliable alternative. The good news: it comes with clear benefits —
✅ Faster and more predictable delivery
✅ No surprise customs charges for buyers
✅ Smooth clearance and fewer delays
✅ Better tracking visibility
📦 What to Expect
Shipments already handed off to Canada Post are stuck until the strike ends. We will reach out to you individually with a report of your affected orders.
New shipments will move via DDP and are expected to continue without interruption.
💡 Why This Matters for You as a Seller
By moving to DDP, we’re ensuring that your buyers still receive a reliable, premium delivery experience during the strike. This protects your ratings, minimizes complaints, and keeps your store running smoothly.
