SCAM ALERT – DO NOT FALL FOR THIS 🚨

This scam makes the rounds every year, and unfortunately, people still lose money to it.

Scammers will call you claiming to be from a law enforcement agency, telling you that you missed a court date, have a warrant, or owe a fine. They’ll then pressure you to pay immediately to “clear it up.”

Let me be very clear:

No legitimate law enforcement agency will EVER call you and demand payment over the phone for a fine or missed court date.

These scammers are convincing. They can even “spoof” the phone number so it appears to be coming from the sheriff’s office, police department, or courthouse.

👉 What you should do if you get one of these calls:

• Hang up immediately
• Do NOT provide any personal information
• Do NOT send money
• Look up the agency’s official phone number yourself
• Call them directly to verify

Do NOT trust the number that called you.

I spent over 25 years in law enforcement, and we never called people demanding money for fines or missed court. Those matters are handled through the judicial system—not over the phone.

If something feels off, it probably is.

Stay alert. Stay informed. And please share this so others don’t become victims.

56 year old Danielle Christine Bobinger has been reported as a missing person from the Semmes area. According to reports, she was last seen at WalMart in Semmes on September 9, 2025. 🛑Are you in a long term online relationship with someone you have never met in person? BE ALERT to potential catfishing scams Romantic long distance relationship scams are on the RISE. 🛑

Catfishers use elaborate and convincing stories to manipulate their victims. Here are some of the most common lies they tell:

Common Stories Catfishers Use in Online Relationships

💼 “I work overseas.” – They claim to be in the military, an oil rig worker, a doctor in a conflict zone, or doing humanitarian work in another country. This makes it easy for them to avoid meeting in person.

🎫 “I want to visit you, but I can’t afford it.” – They say they’re desperate to see you but need money for a plane ticket, visa, or travel expenses.

🏥 “I have a medical emergency.” – They suddenly have a serious illness or accident and ask for help with medical bills.

👨‍👩‍👦 “My child/family member is in trouble.” – They create a crisis involving a child or relative, saying they need financial help for surgery, bail money, or other urgent expenses.

🏦 “I need help accessing my inheritance/money.” – They claim they have a large sum of money stuck in a foreign bank account and need your help (and money) to access it.

📦 “I sent you a gift, but there’s a problem.” – They pretend to send expensive gifts but say they are stuck in customs and ask you to pay fees to release them.

🔐 “I’m having trouble with my bank/paycheck.” – They claim their bank account is frozen or their employer hasn’t paid them, so they need a loan from you.

🚨 “I’m in danger and need your help.” – They say they’re trapped in a dangerous situation and need financial help to escape.
