While County Road 13 was closed today, our line crew replaced a large transmission pole with a new 100-foot steel pole that will tie our new Gayfer Road substation into our system.

100 feet might not seem like a lot, but when you see the big bucket and derrick trucks lifting these poles into the air, they are bigger than you think. 👀 🙌 Thank you for going the extra mile today so that we're able to get one step closer to getting this substation into service!

Ethan Rolin came to Riviera shortly after graduating from Robertsdale High School in 2020. In the last six years, Ethan has worked his way through the apprenticeship program and is planning to take his journeyman's test soon.

Between line school and melting every day in the South Alabama heat, Ethan's glad to work with a tight-knit crew.

"The best part of my job is the people I work with," he said. "I've learned a lot from the other guys. They're always willing to share what they know and make sure everyone's staying safe on the job."

When he's not on call and the conditions are just right, Ethan loves flounder gigging every chance he gets. "I take notes in my phone every time I go fishing and track how many fish I caught," he said. This season he's up to 137 flounder!

Respectfully, it should always roll over the top! 👌

This (actually every day), we hope you're only flushing the three P's: P*e, p**p, and toilet paper.

🧻 Toilet paper is specially engineered to break down quickly in water. Its fibers are designed to separate when wet, helping it travel through our wastewater system without causing any trouble.

Wipes? Not so much. Even "flushable" wipes don't break down like TP and can cause clogs.

So keep it simple: Toilet paper goes in the toilet, wipes go in the trash.🗑️

Exciting improvements are coming to our wastewater system thanks to Governor Kay Ivey, Commissioner Chris Blankenship, and the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources!

Governor Ivey recently announced more than $52 million in GoMESA funding for 21 projects across Coastal Alabama — including $800,000 for Riviera Utilities’ Coastal Wastewater Resiliency Improvement Project.

This investment will help Riviera make improvements that add another layer of protection and resiliency to our wastewater system and the natural resources around us.

We’re grateful to Governor Ivey and Commissioner Chris Blankenship for their leadership, support, and commitment to investing in the future of Coastal Alabama.

We’re proud to play a small part in a much bigger effort to keep our coast strong, resilient, and thriving.
