This weekend, I moved my Arliekay Carter into , and it was one of the most bittersweet moments of my life. It feels like just yesterday I was 28, pregnant with her, dreaming about the woman she would one day become. Now, here I am, watching her step into a whole new chapter of her life. She was born in a year of greatness. In 2008, Barack Obama became president, and that year holds some of my most beautiful memories of being a new mother. I remember looking at my baby girl and seeing nothing but hope for her future, hope for the world, and hope for all the possibilities that awaited her. So much has changed since then. And today, I ask everyone to pray over our . They are entering spaces where some people — not all, but some — may make them feel as though they don’t belong. I know I have a tendency to say out loud the things that many people don’t want to hear, but sometimes we have to face reality instead of living in denial. Our children are growing up in uncertain and, at times, frightening times. They are carrying a lot, and they need our prayers, our guidance, our protection, and our love. I pray that the good Lord covers my child with His blood, protects her, guides her steps, and keeps her safely in His arms wherever she goes.
My Arlie Pie, I am SO incredibly proud of the young woman you are becoming. I know in my heart that you will continue to grow, learn, and strive to become an even more amazing woman. I am beyond blessed to have you as my daughter.
And always remember: no matter what happens, no matter where life takes you, you can ALWAYS call me. I will be there. ❤️
I love you more than words could ever express. And as I share you, for the first time, outside of our home and with the world, I pray that you discover all the beauty, growth, adventure, and wonder that comes with being a college student.
Embrace every moment. Make memories. Learn. Laugh. Grow. Find yourself. And never forget where you came from or how deeply you are loved. This will be one of the best experiences of your lifetime, my dear daughter. Go shine, my baby girl. The world is waiting to see the amazing woman you will become. 🫶🏾❤️

Family of a Lifetime!! Always my family first! Sometimes I can’t believe my children have grown up so quickly!!! It was just yesterday that I had babies and toddlers running around now my oldest Arliekay Carter is off on Thursday for the beginning of her college life. My senior Karleigh is right behind and my one and only SonShine is In middle school now. God has blessed my husband and I with 18 years of marriage and 23 years of life together. Above all else we are grateful for our beautiful family and life we have built together.
