I had a successful day today. Got started putting the greenhouse together. Also spent some time with my new friends. Has anyone else noticed that the sun at the end of the year just feels really really hot?

I spent the day back at the PGE service project. Vault was delivered today so I got that put in and finished digging the trenches to the existing transformer and tying in to the trench to the shop. I’m having to wait to get in some fiberglass 45° bends for the runs over 150’ per PGE requirements. I should be able to pick those up tomorrow.

Well I got the work done. 6 more trucks of dirt came in today while I was working so I got those spread, plus the 10 loads that were on the other side of the pile. Got everything leveled so they can get a lot more dirt in to create a garden area.

Spent the day today grading fill dirt with cuts and fills to create a flat pad for another greenhouse. Also will be adding drainage swales to retain and control water runoff and creating continued access for more fill to come in.

Finished setting posts today and moved the excavator to my next dig. Digging to run electrical conduit to a shop that needs it. The service to the property isn’t sufficient currently so I will be digging up the current service at the transformer and installing a PGE vault nearby, then running conduit to the shop and putting a transformer pad for PGE to install a service connection there.

This week’s recap. Monday I started back at the greenhouse project. The structure hasn’t come in yet but they provided the ground posts so we could get going. Monday I pulled the layout and started setting posts behind the retaining wall. It was harder because when I started the project we were supposed to use a 6’ layout, so that’s what I set the sonotubes at when I built and backfilled the wall. Unfortunately we need a 4’ layout. So only 4 of the 10 tubes were useful. So I had to pull out or infill 3 of the sonotubes and dig out 6 other locations. Tuesday I finished concreting in all the upper posts. The layout is within 1/8” in length, and pretty much perfect in elevation and straight. Today I started with augering all the lower holes, and set 6 out of the 10 posts. I finished one pallet of concrete (56 bags of 60 #), so I had to go pick up another. Overall I’m pretty pleased with the concrete mixer. My back hurts, but not nearly as much as if I had hand mixed all that or had to run a wheelbarrow all over.

It was a good week. I got finished with the road work at the bottom of the hill and moved on to some trenching work creating a system for disposal of wastewater at the top of the hill. It’s not often that I dig so deep that I bottom out the hydraulics on my main boom and stick. Dug down 11’ and put in a dry well system, encased in filter fabric and drain rock, then trenched along the side of the rv to the hook up point and terminated in a yard box.
