It’s World Elephant Day and for us and so many others around the world it’s a chance to celebrate our good fortune to share a life on this planet with these magnificent animals. They are central to everything we do and their charisma, brilliance, and beauty keeps us in awe. From the fuzziest babies to the gentlest matriarchs to the impressive bulls we find gratitude for this life spent learning from their wisdom.

We’re delighted to formally announce our partnership with Wildlife SOS.

Over the coming years, we’ll have the privilege of working alongside their exceptional team as they continue their outstanding work caring for elephants. Coming along for the journey are Maura Davis and Brett Haskins, each bringing decades of experience, brilliant ideas, and a collaborative nature that made it an easy choice for us. Together, we’ll focus on staff training and professional development, enrichment, facility enhancements that create new opportunities for social engagement, foot care, and other husbandry initiatives.

We believe the best outcomes for elephants come from bringing together passionate individuals with different experiences, always asking questions, and never stopping the pursuit of better care. We’re truly honored to be working alongside the skilled and dedicated people at Wildlife SOS and look forward to learning together. And the elephants to whom they have given a soft spot to land? We are already head over heels for that bunch… ❤️

A quick note from us this August as we celebrate Asian Elephant Awareness Month and are approaching World Elephant Day. To everyone who has followed our journey, shared our work, asked thoughtful questions, challenged us to think more deeply, or simply stopped by because you love what we do for elephants and their caregivers…

Thank you.

This community exists because of a shared passion for these remarkable animals, and we’re grateful to have people with us from every corner of the world.

That also means you’ll see elephants we serve living in many different circumstances. Some live in zoos or sanctuaries. Some work alongside mahouts. Some roam the wild landscapes of Africa and Asia while navigating the realities of human-elephant conflict.

And yes, we know some images or management philosophies can raise questions and sometimes strong opinions.

Our belief is simple:

Every elephant deserves help.

If sharing what we’ve learned can improve the life of even one elephant, we’ll gladly work alongside the people who care for them. Real progress comes through curiosity, relationships, and a willingness to keep learning together.

Whether you’ve been here for years or you’ve just found us today, thank you for being part of this community. We hope you’ll ask questions, share your perspective, and enjoy learning with us.

My work with the Memphis Zoo is always some of the most satisfying that I do each year. With elephants and their amazing team at the center, we expand out to support more teams in their incredible work every time I’m here!

Polar bear cognitive systems, giraffe training and biomechanics, construction design support and, always, workshops to help managers and keepers build systems and bridges to do it all…together.

Helping zookeepers to get it right…and to feel good about every incredible thing they do.
