This month: Life Around the Pond

Monday we discussed Turtles 🐢 in our large group discussion. Showing the letter E, saying it out loud and encouraging the kiddos to repeat. We made the ASL sign for E, and saying the letter at the same time.
Working on communication, Alphabetic Knowledge, and Natural & Earth Science.

Large Group and Game: Turtle at the Pond
Asking questions about turtles and encouraging the kiddos to demonstrate how to move like a turtle around the room.
We call it “Turtle Mode” and as the kiddos moved like a turtle, I randomly asked them to crawl to something [blue], changing to a different color every so often.
Working on Drama, Gross Motor Skills and social relationships.

We also read: The Turtle, The Beaver and the Pond for our reading comprehension. Asking the kiddos what they think will happen in the story.

We then made our Turtle Pull Toy working on visual arts, drama and science

We are back at it again after the kiddos winter break and today was a fun filled day for them!

Unfortunately I didn’t get pictures of the games we played but they had a lot of fun and they did get to win prizes.

We talked about what New Years meant and why we celebrate it. They all mentioned that they heard fireworks, so today I figured we would make “Fireworks in a jar” *pictured below*.

The kids couldn’t wait to tell Ms. Cathy about the fireworks and we made it, they were all way too excited 😆
