Stay, Move, or Leave 🚌
In light of the current instability in the Middle East, you can have three main options:
1. Stay (Hibernate): Sheltering in a safe location in-country, reducing movement and exposure while monitoring the situation and preparing a plan if things worsen. Especially in UAE the hotels are offering free stays right now and have the capacity to host travelers while stranded in the city. Make sure to stay updated about the latest news, stay away from the windows and have enough groceries for an extended period of time.
2. Relocate (in country): Moving from a higher-risk area to a safer region within the same country (e.g., from a conflict zone to a more stable city). Right now big cities and their infrastructure in the Middle East are targeted. This infrastructure includes oil factories, harbors or military facilities. Move out of these regions, possibly with secure ground transport and safe accommodation while awaiting further decisions.
3. Repatriate (Out-of-country): Leaving the country entirely, either via commercial flights, charter, or evacuation if needed, to a safer third country or directly home when possible. That is easier said than done when the air space is closed. Your best option right now is ground transportation to Riyadh or Muscat and then book a flight, but that can change anytime.
