IMPORTANT NOTICE OF 1/17/24 SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD (STB) DECISION:

The Surface Transportation Board issued a ruling as of January 17th, 2024 that states hourly interstate moves are not permissible. This conforms to FMCSA's recent position on hourly rates.

See the decision at:
https://dcms-external.s3.amazonaws.com/DCMS_External_PROD/1705513351605/51929.pdf

If you are an interstate mover and have hourly rates in your interstate tariff they must now be removed from your tariff for the tariff to remain lawful.

The STB also clarified that you may adjust both the $6.00 and $6,000 valuation figures for inflation under the previous 2012 Released Rates Order (Amendment Number 5). The current adjustment for inflation based on the CPI would bring this to about $8.00 and $8,000.

If you need help revising your tariff to conform to this ruling, you might consider visiting www.MoverTariffs.com*.

Supplements to existing MoverTariffs.com published tariffs are available from $399 to effect this minor change, or you may publish an entire new tariff that cancels your existing tariff to effect this mandatory change if you currently have hourly interstate rates published.

NOTE: This does not affect your local rates tariff for INTRAstate operations.

Drivers, remember that the SBTC maintains: (1) a trucker emergency relief fund for drivers who unexpectedly find themselves in unusually dire circumstances (we have helped drivers whose homes have burned down, have been hospitalized due to COVID, have been stranded on the road by carriers that suddenly close, and who have died on the road and their families need to get them home); and (2) a truckers' kids holiday fund for trucker families experiencing financial hardship unable to afford to celebrate the holidays with their children.

To apply for financial assistance, please email [email protected] and advise your name, whether you are a company driver, leased owner operator, or independent trucker, your current financial situation/hardship, mailing address and your phone number in case we need to interview you to make a determination on your request for assistance. Be prepared to furnish evidence of hardship. Scammers will be vetted out and need not apply.

These funds are generously supported by our dues-paying members. If you wish to help truckers in trouble and truckers' kids in need, you may join SBTC through the www.truckers.com website.
