Mike Brashear Horsemanship

Mike Brashear Horsemanship Specializing in FOUNDATION to FINISHED horses. Mike Brashear developed a passion for horses at a very young age.

He was determined to make horses a lifetime career, so he sought out any piece of education and experience possible. He got a start by attending the equine program at LCCC in Cheyenne, Wyoming. However, being fortunate enough to ride with some of the horse training greats accelerated his knowledge and experience. These things have allowed Mike to professionally train horses for more than twenty ye

ars. Mike concentrates on foundation to finished horses using natural and traditional methods to create a relationship between horse and rider. His focus is solid horsemanship with a love for Ranch Horse Versatility. Not only does he understand how to get horses to the level they need to be at, but he makes sure riders reach those achievements with their horse. Mike is a local and national clinician helping others with a variety of topics from basic, common sense horsemanship to show techniques. Only second to horses, he has a passion to help people. He appreciates the “ah-ha” moments a student finds that allows them to move forward to creating a better relationship with their horse. Mike is a proud Sponsored Rider for Nutrena Horse Feeds, Arenus, and a Greeley Hat Works ambassador. He helped as an Equine and Location Consultant on the esteemed documentary American Mustang. He is honored to be a repeat presenting clinician at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo and always enjoys meeting fellow horse enthusiasts. Mike also enjoys a bit of competition, competing in Ranch Horse Versatility competitions. In 2014, Mike was devastated by some news he and his family thought would end his horse career. He was diagnosed with Acute Promyelocytic Leukemia. Through faith and an amazing medical staff, he is now in remission. Instead of losing his horse career, the Leukemia brought him to a new level with his horses. They were a major part in helping him heal mentally and emotionally. That battle has also helped him work with people on overcoming their own fears. Mike lives in Fort Lupton, Colorado with his wife, Laura, and their three children. He has built his life around horses and the best horsemanship possible. Mike looks forward to working and riding with you, and as always hopes you “Ride safe!”

Its so important to have a good team working with you. My buddy Matt is my farrier. He is not only good at farrier work but understands the horsemanship involved when working with horses. Over the years I've seen alot of horses messed up because of a farrier! Find a good one and pay him well!

This is my friend Lana. She is in her 70's, an accomplished horsewoman for sure. She's had several surgeries over the last few months and hasn't been horseback in over a year. We've rode together for over 25 years and she asked me to help her get back on. It was truly my pleasure to help her get that done today! She is the epitome of not letting the old man (woman) in! Proud of her for sure!!

There's more to training and working horses than just the status quo!
Winston Churchill said "there's something about the outside of a horse that's good for the inside of a man" I like to think that the way we approach horses the opposite could be said as well!

In light of the EHV-1 virus that is circulating and going around at this time, I've decided to slow things down here at the place. No horses will be brought in until we see the slow down of the spread. So, that means no outside horses will brought in for training, lessons, or evaluations at this time. Be deligent and we will get thru this pretty quick. We won't be taking any horses anywhere anytime soon either. Stay safe and be diligent. Ride Safe!
