Dodd Printing & Stationery, located in Fort Madison, Iowa, was founded in 1877 by Hyempsel Williams Dodd, Sr. The company was started as a "Job Printer" and publisher of The Knight's Sword and Helmet, a national publication of the Knights of Pythias Fraternal Organization. joined the firm, the name was changed to Dodd Printing Co. and, in 1900, the company settled into its current location. el added sporting goods and in the 1920's added office supplies. Frederick Dodd, Hyempsel Jr.'s son, joined the firm in 1939. He modernized the retail office supply business, added offset presses and computer typesetting on the printing side, and changed the name to its current "Dodd Printing & Stationery." Fred's son, Neal Dodd joined the business in 1977, on its one hundredth anniversary. On a busy day in 1987 Neal's wife Lynn, on maternity leave from her nursing career, volunteered to answer phones and the rest is history. Together they remodeled (as in exposed the old tin ceilings and the original front on the building) and added digital printing equipment to their mix of printing presses. In July 2017, Neal and Lynn sold the business to Matt and Betsy Hayes. Today Matt, Betsy and their massive staff of 4 work hard to give modern solutions and old fashioned service to Dodd Printing & Stationery customers.
