Not a complaint, just wondering if there is a solution: I am still receiving Christmas catalogs, Holiday offers, etc delivered to my suburban home by the USPS. Yesterday, I received a Pier 1 Christmas catalog, asking for deliver by 11/1. I'm pretty sure they meant 2011. Since The Quarterly Magazines are dependent on the USPS for delivery - on time, and now they state since they're losing money, they're going to be more inefficient / slower in delivery. Thoughts??

Consider this:
As Christmas approaches, give the gift of genuine concern for others. EVERYONE gets their hair cut. How about gift certificates from your local hair salon or barber?
There are a many owner-run restaurants -- all offering gift certificates.
Gym membership? It's appropriate for all ages who are thinking about some health improvement.
Who wouldn't appreciate getting their car detailed? Small, locally owned detail shops and car washes would love to sell you a gift certificate or a book of gift certificates.
Perhaps a grateful gift receiver would like his driveway sealed, or lawn mowed for the summer. How many people couldn't use an oil change for their car, truck or motorcycle, done at a shop run by the local working guy?
Mom would LOVE the services of a local cleaning lady for a day.
Plan your holiday outings at local, owner operated restaurants and leave your server a nice tip.
How about going out to see a play or ballet at your hometown theater?
Musicians need love too, so find a venue showcasing local bands.
Leave the mailman, trash guy or babysitter a nice BIG tip.
When we care about our communities, the benefits come back to us in ways we couldn't imagine.
