Say Goodbye to Broken Delta Balancing Spools
If you've ever pulled a Delta 1300 or 1400 series cartridge and been left staring at a broken balancing spool still stuck in the valve body, this one's for you.

Barry Walter Jr. is back with the newest addition to our ONA System — a tool we're calling "the claw." It's built specifically to grip and remove the balancing spool when it snaps off during cartridge removal, so you're not fighting with the valve body or damaging it trying to dig the spool out.

How it works:
The claw consists of two pieces — a double-ribbed piece and a single-ribbed piece — that are held firmly together with the threaded rod around the balancing spool. Combined with the ONA Posi-Temp tube and crank, you use the same simple physics as the rest of the ONA system: push against the valve body, turn the crank, and the spool comes right out.

What do you look forward to the most in your role? The people I get to work/grow with and building those relationships.

What was the first job you had? Landscaping/Garden Center Associate

What time does your shift start and end? As early or late as needed but generally 7 – 4:30.

Where would you like to vacation? I really want to vacation in Banff National Park in Alberta, Canada.

What is your favorite hobby? Outdoor activities like camping, fishing, shooting/hunting, as well as spending time with family/fiancé.

If you could choose one age to be forever, what would it be and why? 34. Seems like a good age as far as overall body/mind health while also having wisdom and experience.

What is something that has surprised you about your current role that you didn't know coming in? The camaraderie of the whole Barry Walter Sr. Company team.

Do you follow any sports teams? I am a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs, Colorado Rockies, and Kansas Jayhawks fan. I love all sports and watching others compete.

What does your workstation look like? Clean and organized.

We had the pleasure to host a delegation from University of Denver's Colorado Project 2.0 at the beginning of the month.

They toured our facility and were pleasantly surprised to learn that one of America's largest plumbing manufacturers has been doing business in Fort Morgan for decades.

Here's a situation service plumbers know all too well.

You’re working on an older tub or shower valve with compression stems. One side is leaking, you don't have the repair parts you need, and there are no individual stops at the valve.

You need to make a trip to the supply house — but that means leaving the homeowner with the water to the entire house shut off until you get back...AND, if the cartridge isn't something sitting on the shelf, the best solution is to send that cartridge in so we can duplicate it and get the right replacement made.

But that creates an immediate problem…
How do you plug the valve and restore water while you wait?

Our #103130 Compression Stem Plug is designed to temporarily seal off the leaking side of a compression valve.

The plug works with the existing gland/bonnet from the compression stem to seal the valve body. Once installed, the plumber can turn the water to the house back on, make the trip to the plumbing supply house for the parts needed to complete the repair, and then return to the job.

The leaking valve stays shut off. The rest of the house gets its water back.
