ATTENTION TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS AND VETERANS:

The Occupational Health and Safety industry is an under-publicized option for transitioning service members. Transitioning service members have significant training and experience to be highly competitive candidates for employment within the Occupational Health and Safety industry.

Speaking from first-hand experience, the Marine Corps prepares its SNCOs and Officers exceptionally well for post-service careers in the Occupational Health and Safety industry (https://lnkd.in/gteB9t-n).

Transitioning SNCOs and Commissioned Officers are also already well-prepared for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification due to their extensive training in operational planning and leadership experiences.

Another option for transitioning service members and veterans to consider is becoming an EMT.

I served as an Infantry Marine for 21 years and made the cliché transition into supporting overseas security contracts upon my retirement. I leveraged the extensive Tactical Combat Casualty Care training provided by the Marine Corps and the 17-Day EMT Academy to successfully attain my NREMT certification on the first attempt.

The cost of the course is covered by the GI Bill. The only out of pocket expenses are airfare, car rental, hotel and food. We recommend looking for a short-term rental (you'd save money by preparing your own food and, if you attend the course with a few people, you could split the cost of the rental property).
