When charging on a plane, keep portable charging devices on the tray table. Do not charge devices in overhead compartments and never charge e-cigarettes or vapes on a plane. If a battery overheats or fails, it is important for the flight crew to be able to respond quickly. For more info: fpw.org.

Please join us in wishing him and Task Force 6 safety on their deployment.

FLORIDA TASK FORCE 6 | ACTIVATED

Florida Task Force 6 (FL-TF6) has been activated by the State of Florida and is deploying to North Florida in response to Tropical Storm Isaias.

Our Urban Search and Rescue team is mobilizing with highly trained personnel, specialized equipment, and the resources necessary to support communities threatened by the approaching storm.

FL-TF6 is prepared to conduct search and rescue operations, provide emergency medical support, and assist with disaster response efforts. Team members will work alongside local, state, and federal agencies to ensure critical resources are available where they are needed most.

As communities across Florida prepare for the potential impacts of the storm, our team stands ready to answer the call and carry out its mission of protecting lives and assisting those in need.

Just after 4pm SCPFD was dispatched to a cat with its paw stuck in a storm drain. Engine 51 responded and gently “extricated” the wet and muddy cat before transporting it back to Station 51 where Firefighters gently rinsed it clean and dried it with a cozy towel while awaiting Animal Control. The sweet cat made an impression on one of our Firefighters who is interested in adopting it and giving it a safe and dry forever home.

Just before 12 PM, San Carlos Park Fire District was dispatched to parking garage 2 at Florida Gulf Coast University for a vehicle fire. Crews from San Carlos Park and Estero Fire Rescue arrived on scene to find a vehicle’s engine compartment smoking with flames showing, with fire extension to the neighboring vehicle. Crews quickly extinguished the fire and secured the area. Two vehicles suffered major damage and a 3rd vehicle suffered heat damage to its roof and side. No one was injured in the fire.
Further damage and extension to vehicles next to and across from those that were damaged was prevented by the quick action of a student calling 911 and a coordinated and quick response of Firefighters. When you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately and alert others in the area of danger.
