We really thought wanting something different…
didn’t require becoming someone different.
We said we wanted more —
but we didn’t want the pain that comes with it.
So when it got hard…
we pivoted.
Called it a “journey.”
Told ourselves it “wasn’t aligned anymore.”
But if we’re being honest…
We just didn’t want it bad enough
to become the version of us that could actually have it.
We kept redefining what “matters”
so we didn’t have to face the truth.
Jumping from thing to thing to thing—
telling ourselves we’re evolving…
When really…
we were just avoiding.
Avoiding the discomfort.
Avoiding the growth.
Avoiding the work it actually takes.
And deep down, we knew.
Because growth isn’t confusing.
It’s uncomfortable.
And we weren’t lost because we were “finding ourselves”…
We were lost because we refused to build ourselves.
At some point, we had to admit:
It’s not that it didn’t work.
It’s that we didn’t become the person required
to make it work.
