Another success at Gabionbaskets.net!!! For as long as many of the residents could remember, when a large rain event occurred, Lawson Road was flooded. Years of flash flooding had deposited tons of silt and gravel in a streambed that was already too small to contain the water that it collected during a large rain event. To alleviate the flooding, the City of Birmingham engineers developed a plan to widen the streambed, replace the bridges and armor the streambanks with gabion baskets. Our company, Midwest Construction Products, worked with a local contractor to get the job done!! After the project was finished, a large rain event occurred and just as they had done for years before the police department rushed out to close the Lawson Road due to flooding. When they arrived, they found the expanded armored streambed full of water, BUT the road was not flooded! Everyone was so happy with the outcome of the project the mayor’s office even had a ceremony to commemorate it’s finish! What a success!! Now its time to move on to the next challenge....stay tuned!!
