Every Protector needs to understand the basics of Counter Espionage both the technical and the operational security of Espionage. I did this for over 40 years now, both in and outside the Government.

It's a challenge knowing when and how competitors steal secret business information.

Mental Health is usually the primary problem with these Assassination plots, luckily they rarely get far, but the US. Secret Service have many thousand of these they have to deal with, and more each week, if not days. The USSS has a whole division that works on this and at least one Agent in every field office is tasked with taking care of the problems, which are often ongoing for years, most are deemed not a risk, unless the Protectee is in the area, or the person of interest is on the move. In private industry I have worked a number of them, it is much harder to deal with, unless they make moves like this man did. One was easy to provoke into making threatening moves so we could get them back into a mental health facility for at least a while. If you come across this type of threat, please take it for real, even if your client tends not to. We need more technology to help alert us to the going issue. Getting people to wear tracking devices just does not seam to work. More invasive technology have been available for some time, but difficult to force implementation. Working with Health care providers is rarely workable, the same is often the case with law enforcement, both have privacy and liability issues to deal with. I have had better luck with family members that do not want people getting hurt from their person with mental health conditions going off the rails. Still they often want to feel the person is getting better and want to believe in them. It is a difficult issue to deal with. Best of luck and have a happy New Year.

As we all are having to take on more of our personal security, Safe Rooms are a good self-defenses move. I have designed them for Kings to Wall Street Billionaires, they are complex and expensive. But I have also designed them for families just worried about Cartel attacks for less than 200 dollars. It all depends on how much time you need to delay the bad guys, ie how much time till some type of armed response arrives. For many it is around 15 min, after the first call is made. With the defunding of police this time has increased quite a bit in some areas. So you may need to prepare for a longer assault. Bullet resistant cars are also very expensive and if you do not have a security detail are often useless in a prolonged attack. But you can harden your vehicle fairly inexpensively, and as long as you follow safe policies in the use of the vehicle, like keep moving. Even a heavy sun shield on your windows, by tinting can provide a level of protection, by making it harder to aim at drivers, and some tints also provide a bit of ballistic protection. Driver training can be key to your survival, if fact it can be the biggest factor to staying alive. This can be a 4 hours class, up to a 3 or 4 day class on how to best survive an attack. You need at least someone to work with you or your drivers to help them keep you safe. If you need further information please get hold of me, and we can help you go the next step.

Security agencies say wealthy clients are increasing protective measures: "They want someone who knows how to get them out of any situation."

For 70 dollars you can get access to some of the most professional cybersecurity courses available. You do not get to take the tests for that price, but you can pay more to take them. Personally I do not think you have too. There are practice tests that will let you know what you have done. I have spoken to a number of hiring folks at some of the big computer companies , more that one has told me that they would rather have a person that has hands on, like a little computer lab at home to finish the courses. This is enough to get an entry level, perhaps mid level job. With a lot of growth potential.

This bundle gives you full prep for important tests, including CISSP, and CompTIA Security+, PenTest+, CySA+, and CASP+.

This is one of the best interviews on the Mexican Cartels. They are interviewing Ildefonso Ortiz a good friend and one of the most knowledgeable person on the Cartels you will ever find. I first met Mr. Ortiz when he worked for a local Newspaper here in the valley. He now is the Breitbart reporter on the Valley and the Cartels. He and his partner started a Breitbart report called the Cartel Chronicles. This is a long interview, but it is well worth the listen. .

Breitbart News investigative journalist Ildefonso "Poncho" Ortiz, sits with us and discusses cartel activity, violence, and other issues along the U.S. borde...

This is all to true and it effects the paying power to USA Vets, that used to make a good living overseas in the sand box. More and more the work goes to foreign Veterans, who typically work for often less that a quarter of what a USA veteran costs. The truly sad news is that even American owned companies are using the cheaper labor just to stay in business. I have trained at least a thousand or so US Veterans and some still active duty, just transitioning out, as Executive Protection team members. But even in that business over seas work is being taken over by lower wage foreign veterans. Fortunately it does not always work out, military trained soldiers usually do not make for good bodyguards or executive protection team members. They are weapons trained, but that is such a small part of being in an Executive Protection team. The EP teams are trained to use their skills to avoid firefights as much as possible. This tends to keep the Executives from being shot during a firefight, and has far less liability problems for the Executives.

All thanks to the forever wars, the world’s most dangerous job-training programs.

Ok, this is a problem, but so far we are not seeing a lot of professionalism from the current Zetas, although that may change. Notice the original contact was with a Mexican Soldier and a Columbian Soldier during their training in the USA. There where a number of contract vehicles for doing this training most State Department Sponsored. I was an instructor for three different groups, four if you count Northwestern University, for a short time. They bailed out of the program with very little notice, after it was discovered some of our Columbian and other students had or were part of military's units that had very bad human rights problems like torcher and such. . But, most of what we taught was to Police, and I think they learned a lot. The State Department would bring them up for a month or more for training. I doubt we trained any of these folks, it was a while ago. But private training still goes on, CTI trained Mexican Police on wiretapping and bugging systems, to the point they asked our folks to go on a few of their first assignments. Ah the private security world is a strange place at times.

In a testament to the Zetas drug gang's international reach, a handful of former members of the Colombian Special Forces are alleged to be actively involved in training the Mexican criminal group.
