Two more downtown favorites, two totally different vibes.

The Rooted Reef Kava Bar has that laid-back, ocean-inspired feel the second you walk in, hammock chair and all. A few blocks over, Notions & Potions candles and more is packed with candles, gifts, and the kind of personal touch you only get from a small, family-run shop.

Southern Cottage on 2nd just opened its doors downtown a couple of months back, and there's something special about being part of a business's story from the very beginning. FPUA’s citizen-led Utility Advisory Committee invites local students, young adults, families, and community members to the Third Annual Youth Career Event on Wednesday, September 2, from 4–6 p.m.

Some of the most meaningful stops this week weren't retail shops — they were the places that hold Fort Pierce's history and teach the next generation about it.

Inside the SunriseTheatre Fort Pierce, surrounded by decades of photos and old film reels, it was hard not to think about how far this town has come. And over at the Manatee Center, learning about the lagoon right outside our back door reminded us why protecting this community matters just as much as connecting it.

Fort Pierce has this way of holding onto its character even as it grows, and you can feel it walking past shops like The Hippie Hut and Varsity Sport Shop. Different vibe, same story — local owners who've put years into building something that belongs here.

We got to spend a few minutes with the folks at both shops this week while getting them connected to fiber. Small moment, but it means a lot to us. This is the kind of stuff that keeps us proud to be a hometown utility.

We spent the afternoon walking around downtown Fort Pierce, and it's honestly one of our favorite parts of the job — getting to shake hands with the people who run this town's small businesses.
