Our subcontractor, MV Capitana (C-27) has recently been recovering some very interesting artifacts. Diver Jake Auman came up with a bronze pestle, and Corinne Lea managed to recover three ornate coat buttons with floral designs that were very popular in the early 18th century. Also found were more of the ornate pewter mount-like objects. Well done captain and crew!

This amazing clump of artifacts appears to be the remains of a small sack of mixed denomination silver coins and two gold-washed silver buckles. After the storm, these belongings found their resting place on the ocean floor. As the presumably leather bag began to deteriorate, 11 of the coins and one of the two buckles managed to fall out, while the remaining coins and matching buckle fused themselves into this stunning conglomerate.
Weighing just over a pound, these artifacts likely represent a common person’s or sailor’s worldly possessions acquired during their tenure in the New World. What an amazing discovery! Congratulations to the Austin Daly and Carson Brown aboard the Mighty Mo! The MV Mighty Mo (C-4) is one of the current subcontractors working with 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC. This important discovery will be carefully conserved and documented. The 1715 Plate Fleet disaster occurred 311 years ago today.

Recently, the crew of 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC subcontractor, Mighty Mo (C-4), recovered nearly 300 silver coins from the trail they have been exploring since 2019. This increased the coin count from this site to over several thousand. How many more coins will this trail yield? The crew of our subcontractor, MV Capitana (C-27) has been putting in some long days and made some amazing discoveries. Congratulations to their newest crew member Jake Auman, who recovered his first gold coin on less than half a dozen dives after joining up for the 2026 season! The coin is a stunning 2 Escudos minted in Mexico City.

We learned of the passing of our good friend and long time 1715 Fleet guru, Tommy Gore. He was there from the beginning of the modern day recovery efforts as a state agent. Later he became a subcontractor. His books have always been a wealth of information and still sit proudly on our shelves. Rest in peace buddy.

On July 8, 2026, the crew of the Search and Salvage LLCs treasure recovery vessel Showdown, while working as subcontractors for 1715 Fleet-QJ LLC, found this conglomerate that appears to contain several coins. The mass weighs approximately 3 lbs and was found under 6 feet of overburden in shallow water on the site of one of the 1715 Flleet shipwrecks by diver Keith Holburger along with Capt Tom, Jennifer Gregory and Bill Lewis on the MV Showdown. This artifact will undergo careful conservation and recording in the company’s lab. Well done to the crew of Showdown!

Recent Discoveries!
While conducting explorations and recoveries on our contract areas, several subcontractors of 1715 Fleet - Queens Jewels, LLC, made some amazing discoveries. Lately, the Treasure Coast has been experiencing amazing sea conditions which are always welcome when working underwater.

Recent artifact discoveries include; an intact onion bottle, several coins including a Lima 1 escudo and a Santa Fe de Bogota 2 escudos, a silver religious medallion, fragments of gold olive blossom and smooth link chain and several gold ring fragments. Congratulations to the crews of Blackwater, Gold Blooded, Mighty Mo, Just Right and Capitana. We look forward to what other interesting artifacts are discovered in the coming weeks.

The 2026 Season has begun! Recently the crew of the M/V Gold Blooded (C-49), while conducting explorations and recoveries on our contract areas, discovered gold nuggets, flakes and dust along with rare olive blossom and smooth link chain fragments. Congrats to C-49 on the first gold of the season!
