In lieu of PROOF’s PXT, this seemed like a good opportunity to share an exert from our Structured Barrel Science page:

“While bending and axial stiffness govern how a barrel flexes and stretches, torsional rigidity describes its resistance to twisting under torque.

This becomes especially important when evaluating dynamic forces caused by bullet-barrel interaction and the added inertia of muzzle brakes, suppressors, or general asymmetric contours - all of which can create rotational, whipping forces along the barrel’s longitudinal axis.

Torsional rigidity is governed by the polar moment of inertia, a measure of how mass is distributed radially around the central axis. Greater distribution away from the center increases resistance to twisting (like it does bending).

In barrels, torsional loads arise from:
• Rotational acceleration of the projectile (rifling engagement)
• Recoil impulse interacting with asymmetrical attachments
•Thermal gradients throughout the barrel, causing warpage (droop) and torque-induced deviation

How do you suppose say a 1:250-7 test barrel will behave torsionally as the bullet is accelerated down the bore?

Now for the loaded question - how will increasing its mass distribution away from the bore (longitudinal) axis improve this phenomenon?

Unsolicited observations from an end-user.

“I made shots with the TACOM HQ .308 AR10 in a sniper comp that absolutely amazed me, low probability shots and first round impacts......the cooling effect is noticeable, the harmonic reduction is noticeable but there’s something else at distance that I can’t quite put my finger on that is having an effect with windage. I see the same effect in the gas gun as I do with my 3 structured bolt guns. Has to be some kind of increase in the stability of the bullet. They just shoot different.

They’re just “dead” than what typical recoil feels like, the weight and mass are one thing but I’ve shot heavier barrels that don’t feel like these. Also, DOPE is interesting at 1200+, the typical drops don’t line up(drop less) with the calculators. Beyond that, had many conversations about this and I can’t quite put my finger on it…..but I’m not sciency, more intuitive

It’s hard to explain. A lot of things going on with this barrel.

Forgot to add that on all my structured barrels the velocities are always higher than expected when doing development.”

“10 rounds 6.5 8/10 @1,000 yds. Barrel is barely warm.”

Structured Barrels -
• Shoot longer
• Exhibit less barrel mirage
• Maintain material stiffness
• Reduce velocity migration

Structured Barrels add an unmatched +300% more surface area for heat dissipation allowing them to go 2-3x the rounds of a standard barrel in an extended string of fire.

When heat goes up, groups go out.

Structured Barrels exhibit +300% more surface area for heat dissipation. Useful for extended round counts and mitigating mirage.

This will be one of our Flagship Guns coming out of Eastern NC!
The Phenom will come with our very own Chassis, Phenom Action, Tacom Structured barrel, Timney Trigger, Area419 Brake.
Internal and External weights for the chassis are available.
This gun line will only be available in SA calibers
Obvi, if you want different accessories, we can accommodate , change out what you want.
Cerakote options are also available.
Scope, suppressor, and bipods all sold separately

We are extremely proud of the Alpha is 100% made in the USA. This took considerable effort to accomplish, especially to meet this price point. Product origin was mentioned in the description, but now it is front and center.

It’s not every day you get the chance to experience the technology behind a structured barrel from . I’ve known about John for many years and this past week I got to check off on the bucket list. Consecutive rapid fire hits at a IPSC target 1000 yards. And then grab the barrel without hesitation…
