The FMCSA Portal “Registration Options” functionality and the Unified Registration System (URS) are what go dark at 8:00 PM ET tomorrow.
If you run a trucking fleet and haven’t taken action yet, here’s what’s actually happening:
📌 What is Motus?
Motus replaces the FMCSA Portal and the Unified Registration System (URS) — the platforms you’ve used for years to manage your USDOT number, operating authority, and biennial updates (MCS-150). It’s now one centralized dashboard.
📌 What changes tomorrow?
• The legacy FMCSA Portal registration tools go dark at 8:00 PM ET on May 14th — permanently.
• There will be roughly a 4-day blackout window where NO registration changes can be made while data migrates.
• After that, everything moves through Motus.
📌 Why does this matter for your fleet?
• Only your Company Official — using the exact same Login.gov email on file — can claim your USDOT account in Motus.
• If your Portal account is inactive, outdated, or your Company Official info is wrong, you could face delays, rejected filings, or gaps in compliance coverage.
• Biennial updates, authority actions, address changes, reinstatements — all of it moves to the new system.
📌 What should you do right now?
✅ Log into portal.fmcsa.dot.gov and confirm your account is active
✅ Verify your Company Official name and Login.gov email are correct
✅ Make sure your company address, contact info, and fleet details are current
✅ Complete any urgent filings before 8:00 PM ET tonight
This isn’t a minor update. FMCSA is retiring systems that have been in place for over a decade.
If you’re a fleet owner running 5–19 trucks and compliance isn’t your full-time job — this is exactly the kind of deadline that slips through the cracks.
Saa3a exists so it doesn’t.
