Are you sure your FMCSA Portal is active, accessible, and tied to the right business inbox before the MOTUS claim process begins?

Most fleets don’t run into trouble because of FMCSA itself—they run into trouble because one of the three records doesn’t match. If the portal email belongs to a former employee or an abandoned inbox, the claim invite can be missed and the deadline can pass without anyone noticing.

At SAA3A, we start by verifying the portal access and aligning the records before anything else moves forward. That simple first step can save a lot of delays later.

Compliance isn’t a product , it’s a responsibility held on behalf of carriers who can’t afford to fail. Every deadline met is a covenant kept.

Is IFTA compliance actually a “simple task”… or one of the most underestimated risks in trucking?
A lot of carriers think:
“It’s just quarterly filing.”
Until:
• Mileage is off
• Deadlines are missed
• Penalties show up
The reality? Small errors in IFTA can turn into expensive problems fast.
So I’m curious—
Do you handle IFTA in-house, or outsource it?
And what’s been your biggest challenge with it?

The Supreme Court just changed the game for freight brokers. And most carriers haven’t figured out what it means for them yet.

On May 14, the Court ruled 9-0 in Montgomery v. Caribe Transport II that freight brokers can be sued under state negligence law for hiring unsafe carriers.

The federal preemption shield that brokers hid behind? Gone — at least when it comes to carrier selection.
The ruling means brokers can no longer simply pick the cheapest or fastest option — they now face real legal exposure if they put a carrier with a poor safety record on a load.

Here’s what that means in plain terms:

For brokers: More scrutiny on every carrier they tender to. More documentation. More vetting. And a much harder conversation after any serious accident.

For carriers: Carriers with cleaner safety records and stronger compliance history become more valuable in broker relationships — while those with poor CSA scores or conditional ratings may find brokered freight lanes closing on them.

This is where compliance stops being a checkbox and starts being a competitive advantage.

At Saa3a.com, we automate DOT/FMCSA compliance for fleets running 5–19 trucks — MCS-150 updates, UCR renewals, IFTA filings, BOC-3 — tracked, filed, and monitored so nothing falls through the cracks.

If a broker asks for your compliance history tomorrow, you should be able to produce it in under 60 seconds.

Can you?

“This isn’t optional. FMCSA is moving to Motus. If your portal access is wrong, your contacts can’t get in, or your USDOT profile is outdated — you’ll have a problem when the transition goes live. We’re helping fleets get ready now, before it becomes a fire drill.”

The FMCSA Portal “Registration Options” functionality and the Unified Registration System (URS) are what go dark at 8:00 PM ET tomorrow.

If you run a trucking fleet and haven’t taken action yet, here’s what’s actually happening:

📌 What is Motus?

Motus replaces the FMCSA Portal and the Unified Registration System (URS) — the platforms you’ve used for years to manage your USDOT number, operating authority, and biennial updates (MCS-150). It’s now one centralized dashboard.

📌 What changes tomorrow?

• The legacy FMCSA Portal registration tools go dark at 8:00 PM ET on May 14th — permanently.
• There will be roughly a 4-day blackout window where NO registration changes can be made while data migrates.
• After that, everything moves through Motus.

📌 Why does this matter for your fleet?

• Only your Company Official — using the exact same Login.gov email on file — can claim your USDOT account in Motus.

• If your Portal account is inactive, outdated, or your Company Official info is wrong, you could face delays, rejected filings, or gaps in compliance coverage.

• Biennial updates, authority actions, address changes, reinstatements — all of it moves to the new system.

📌 What should you do right now?

✅ Log into portal.fmcsa.dot.gov and confirm your account is active

✅ Verify your Company Official name and Login.gov email are correct

✅ Make sure your company address, contact info, and fleet details are current

✅ Complete any urgent filings before 8:00 PM ET tonight

This isn’t a minor update. FMCSA is retiring systems that have been in place for over a decade.

If you’re a fleet owner running 5–19 trucks and compliance isn’t your full-time job — this is exactly the kind of deadline that slips through the cracks.

Saa3a exists so it doesn’t.

If you run trucks across state lines and have a DOT number, you’re usually required to file UCR before January 1 each year or risk fines and possible out‑of‑service orders during roadside inspections.
