Happy Monday to all of our amazing Pool Boys Inc. customers!
Many of you may not know, but Pool Boys Inc. is a VERY small business made up of only one single individual, the "pool boy" himself, Jere.. (with a little help from his wife, who does the books, sends the postcards, & throws up a few Facebook posts when she can squeeze it in, while balancing her own career.)
The pandemic has put such a strain on so many small businesses over the last 18 months and Pool Boys Inc. is no exception to this "new normal".
There are a couple of major perks of being so small:
1. We have very little overhead and are able to pass our savings on to our customers, hence our lower prices!
2. MOST times, we're able to squeeze you in on our schedule at very little notice compared to our competitors.
There are some major CHALLENGES with being so small, as well:
1. We have almost ZERO buying power. This means, every once in a while, it takes us a little more time to acquire the parts needed to make your repair. Add in a pandemic & a disaster of a supply chain...and this has now become a MAJOR CHALLENGE for us. For example, we have gone from having to wait just one week for liners & covers to come in, to now waiting multiple weeks & sometimes months with no updated timelines from our distributor (who, by the way, is just the middle-man β they are facing their own, unique challenges as well)!
2. We really need to hire another service tech. Some jobs are just impossible to do on our own, and thanks to our amazing customers & word of mouth, we continue to grow! It's already tough to find good help, especially being in a seasonal industry. Add in a pandemic and a national staffing shortage & this challenge has now become impossible.
We write this today to show you complete transparency in what weβre going through. Everyone has been impacted in some way, shape, or form by this pandemic, and we are no exception to that.
Weβd like to say THANK YOU to all of our customers who have shown us so much grace & patience recently.
We will continue to work our hardest to overcome these challenges and to deliver the best service possible to you!
