Every day in vet med, veterinary professionals around the world are making an impact on the lives of our companion animals. Every so often, we get to hear about some of the extraordinary ones like this one about Biscuit!
During a visit to Hudson Animal Hospital, some of the Suveto team was headed out of the lobby when Biscuit wandered into the hotel lobby, clearly having broken free from being tied up somewhere in the area. Biscuit proceeded to follow the team and hop right into the rental car - almost as if she had chosen them.
After getting in contact with her owner, it was discovered that they unfortunately decided to give her away and no longer wanted her. Upon calling the local shelters, they found out that Biscuit would likely be euthanized due to a lack of space. Of course, our team couldn’t let that happen! Upon arriving to Hudson Animal Hospital, the hospital team welcomed Biscuit with open arms, gave her all the treatment she appeared to need, and agreed to keep her safe for over a month.
Knowing that Biscuit could have better odds finding a forever home up North, Jen Rusnack, our CHRO, decided to pick her up from the hospital and make the 10.5 hour road trip from North Carolina to New Jersey with her. After an impactful Facebook post sharing Biscuit’s story and asking friends and family to help find a loving home for Biscuit, the sweet dog was able to find a family that was more than excited to welcome her into their family and give her the love and care she deserves! Here’s a quick anecdote from the new owner:
“Biscuit found her forever home ❤️ My daughter’s friends slept over last night. She had 10 teenage girls giving her all the attention in the world. She was in heaven! Laying on her back getting belly rubs like a princess!
I can’t even imagine how this angel got abandoned. But I’m glad, because you rescued her and now, we get to show her love for the rest of her life! So, thank you for rescuing her and bringing her to us!”
We want to give a big shoutout to the team at Hudson Animal Hospital. Your willingness to step up, care for Biscuit, and give her the opportunity to have a second chance at love and a life she deserves is a massive testament to the commitment and passion you have for veterinary medicine.
Photos and videos are from the day she found our team, her stay at Hudson Animal Hospital, her roadtrip and stay with Jen and the Rusnacks, and her first day in her new forever home! Be careful, you might shed a few tears like we did 🥹
