That’s a question I’ve been wrestling with.

Why is it that some of the most innovative leaders are surrounded by teams that resist change?

Why do leaders who model ownership still struggle with people who won’t take initiative?

Why do emotionally healthy leaders sometimes lead emotionally unhealthy cultures?

What if people aren’t simply copying what they see?

What if they’re copying what they interpreted?

That one thought has completely changed the way I think about leadership development.

I need your honest answer:

How many hours after you "clock out" does it take before you stop thinking about work?

For me, it used to be never. I'd close my laptop at 6pm and my brain would keep running scenarios until 2am.

At the dinner I’d have phone in hand, still responding to emails and text messages, only to realize I hadn't heard a word my family said.

I thought that's just what leadership looked like.

Turns out, there's a difference between being responsible and being unable to put it down.

So I'm curious, what's your number? How long does it take you to actually disconnect?

I used to dread coming home from vacation…

Not because the trip was over, but because I spent the entire tim time mentally at work.

Dinner with my family → solving tomorrow’s crisis
Beautiful sunset → drafting that email
Lying in bed → replaying conversations I couldn’t change.

What changed? I stopped waiting until I was burned out to process my leadership weight.

As a coach, I see it constantly. The problem isn’t that you’re doing too much. It’s that you’re carrying too much. And that weight follows you everywhere.
