I was recently asked to do a career day for a local elementary school. Once I had committed, I started to panic - what was I going to talk to these kids about - KPIs? Strategy? P&Ls? SNOOZE.

Instead, I went back to basics - how do we get our start as entrepreneurs? It starts with an idea. I had the kids create an idea for a business on a post-it. Some drew, some wrote, but everyone came up with something. Then we spent time working on "building" one or two of the ideas from the class. What would we need to start a car dealership? What resources do we need before we could open? What kind of people would we need to hire? How could we get capital? It was amazing seeing these kids dreaming and scheming about their future businesses.

I've been holding on to these post-its for a while now, not wanting to throw them out, but not quite sure what to do with them. Yesterday, I framed some of my favorites and hung them in my conference room. They serve as a daily reminder of a day spent with the future, growing dreamers.
