The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has confirmed a second detection of New World screwworm (NWS) in a one-month-old calf in Zavala County, Texas, approximately 5.6 miles away from the first confirmed detection.
While we continue to wait for emergency use approval for Ivermectin use as a feed through additive to be used as a science based and effective preventative against New World Screwworm for our wildlife and livestock, please continue following guidance from our state agencies and federal partners.
