We joined our member Quality Grain in Dorchester, Texas yesterday as KTEN ABC news stoped by to highlight the facility receiving a nearly $300,000 award from the Texas Department of Agriculture’s AgLink Continuity Grant Program through the Texas Agricultural Finance Authority (TAFA).

TGFA, alongside fellow industry leaders, worked closely with legislators to help make these dollars available for agribusinesses across Texas. Of the 80 agribusiness recipients funded from the $22.5 million statewide program, 22 TGFA members agribusinesses were awarded grants totaling close to $7 million.

These funds will support weather‑related repairs, efficiency upgrades, general facility improvements, and the preservation of rural jobs, further strengthening our Texas agricultural supply chain.

Quality Grain in Dorchester, Texas serves as a vital link in the food supply chain by purchasing grain from local farmers and selling it to end users, helping move crops efficiently from field to market.

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Ivermectin Liquid for Horses to provide short-term prevention of New World screwworm (NWS) infestations in horses. The authorization allows the product to be administered within 24 hours of birth or during initial wound care to help protect horses from this devastating pest. This action supports ongoing efforts to safeguard American agriculture and animal health as officials work to prevent the spread of New World screwworm. The authorized product is for use in horses only and is not approved for use in other species.

Our hearts are heavy this week as devastating flooding continues to unfold across Uvalde and Frio counties. What began as inches of rain has now turned into feet, overwhelming homes, businesses, roadways, and entire communities. And with more rain on the way, the situation remains dangerous and unpredictable.

TGFA has multiple members directly affected by this disaster. These are not distant headlines or far‑off communities, these are our friends, our colleagues, our neighbors. Their livelihoods, their homes, and their safety are on the line.

To the first responders working around the clock, your life‑saving efforts are nothing short of heroic. You are wading into rising waters, evacuating families, protecting property, and standing firm in the face of a crisis that continues to grow. We are deeply grateful for your courage.

Please keep Uvalde and Frio counties in your thoughts and prayers. Lift up the families who are displaced, the businesses fighting to protect their operations, and the responders who are risking everything to keep others safe. Our hearts are with you, and our support will remain long after the waters recede.

The Texas Grain & Feed Association appreciates Commissioner Miller and the Texas Department of Agriculture for urging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to act swiftly on an Emergency Use Authorization for ivermectin in feed as a preventative tool against the New World Screwworm. This action comes at TGFA’s request, and we are grateful for their partnership in protecting Texas livestock and wildlife.

For more than a year, TGFA and our member companies have been the leading voice agvocating for an EUA that allows feed manufacturers to deliver accurate, effective, and responsibly formulated ivermectin feed where it is urgently needed. TGFA feed manufacturers stand ready with the infrastructure, expertise, and capacity to support deployment in active NWS zones.

While we fully recognize that the sterile fly technique remains the primary long‑term eradication tool, Texas needs an effective, feasible interim solution for free-range wildlife and livestock until sterile fly supply reaches the necessary scale. Our members are committed to supporting Texas producers, protecting animal health, and helping ensure rapid response capabilities during this critical period.
